9:57 mega2 in DDF saw a big bird flying by.
https://forums.dabasdati.lv/viewtopic.p ... 26#p198926
actually mega2 thought there were two birds, but to me it seems that there was only one, flying by behind one of the big trees in the meadow under the poop branch.
here's a normal view video:
https://youtu.be/ItpW9RVP7LA

i made a close-up clip of this bird, too. it's really difficult to see what bird it was. the slowness of the wing beat suggests that it was bigger than a raven.

Hello everyone :hi:

thanks for update! :2thumbsup:

Jānis Ķ. said that wait for the first frost, then let's go to the nest. There are no thoughts about disconnecting the camera at this time.
They will wait till the eagles begin to rebuild the nest.
If they do not start, Maris wants to persuade Janis to help the eagles

Thanks Liz!

So all we have to do now... some prayers for a "good frost".

My apologies to the Latvian people there

:slap:
I have got used to look without sound and have forgotten about this noise. I have added music :whistling:

Means we never we will hear Vilnis's shout

Someone flew yesterday at 18.07.01 to the right of the wood. He was behind an oak. At 18.07.18 I have departed further on the left. Very low.

Sep 19

good sunny morning!

thank you Sonchik for the observation of the bird.
at first glance it looked like a wood pigeon (Columba palumba).
terrible pictures but they were the best i could get. :slap:
Image

40 s later a similar looking bird (possibly not the same individual though) flew from the left to the right. - this is a combined picture of one bird in two consecutive frames, not two individuals.
i think that the white wing stripes of a wood pigeon should better better visible. this is probably not a wood pigeon. :puzzled:
Image

i made a close-up clip of the both fly-by in slow motion (1/5 of normal speed):

here's the normal view.

7:17 mega2 saw one of the eaglets flying to the nest tree.
https://forums.dabasdati.lv/viewtopic.p ... 92#p198952

the Sun was rising. :innocent:

i could not find for certain when the eaglet left.
7:18 the tree shook more than usual. this is the most probably time of the take-off: 7:18:50.

7:46 a hooded crow came to visit.
Image

he went upstairs so the eaglet must have flown before that.
i didn't see when the crow flew away either.

7:53 two ravens visited the nest (i think it is still easiest to call the place where the nest was this way).
then they flew to the spruce on the right.
7:56 they flew away.

You remember when you have written it, the enormous activity has begun at once. Maybe once again you will try?

i'm afraid that my 'answer' didn't give much any answer nor identification, except maybe that i don't think that the bird was an eagle. :slap:

10:00 a grey-headed woodpecker (Picus canus) male came for a visit. mega2 in DDF saw him.
https://forums.dabasdati.lv/viewtopic.p ... 92#p198992
Image

both sexes of the green woodpecker P. viridis have larger red caps than P. canus male. they also have black robber masks.
this WP had only a small black spot on the cheek so this was not a green WP.
- is this kind of stripe called a 'whisker mark? :dunno:
https://www.allaboutbirds.org/bird-id-s ... eld-marks/

Image

he went downstairs for a while. then he climbed across the "nest" and went upstairs.
Image
https://youtu.be/Ciofd_jVYkY

i didn't see him fly a way. the top of the tree has recently "eaten" many of the birds who have gone there.

Good Morning !

The only one who is very happy with this situation is - The Tree, with it's well stretched shoulders !! :D

The tree feels free and lighter, can swing from side to side without fearing that the heavy load will fall down. His life is quieter without the sounds and screams of these big birds.

And especially, without the bad odors of decay and insects. At last one can smell the fresh leaves and pine cones, the fresh morning air and the smell of rain that disinfects everything. :rotf:

I suppose he hopes that this crazy family will find another home for themselves.
But we hope to continue with the same landscape and all the old habits.

at about a quarter to 10 pm the Moon is slightly above the top of the picture and the Mars is under the cones on the top right.
Image

the other (former) planet Pluto on the right is invisible for the naked eye and for our camera as well (also out of the field of view).
