Abigyl, I looked at the scene again. You're right! Milda brought only this green branch. The end of the branch was thick, so I thought she had a piece of branch in her claws I'm getting old! I don't need glasses, I need a magnifying glass
From 8:00 am I'm gone for a few hours. neighborhood assistance
what a day: it has rained most of the time, plain water.
i had a look at the weather report. this weather seems to continue til Saturday. https://www.yr.no/place/Latvia/Other/Durbe/
hello all
i think that no-one has been here although one long straw is in another place than yesterday. the wind must have turned it since all the others are the same.
the lens is becoming foggy. i hope it's on the outside.
good morning!
an eagle is on the outer left branch. i don't know when she came and is she a stranger... she seems to have a long beak so it's probably a girl.
the people in chat write that she came at 8:25.
8:34 she jumped to the nest. i didn't see the tail well enough... but the right wing pattern does not look like Milda's ... it's probably the same female who visited yesterday. she also behaves like she does not know the place. - i had a look at yesterday's pictures for comparison. this is the same female as yesterday, not Milda.
now i made the video of her arrival. she landed on the nest and then jumped to the left branch showing her tail spots. it's definitely neither of our eagles.
8:25 she flew to the nest. then she looked around... and finally got up to the left branch.
this is a long clip of her coming and jumping to the branch. https://youtu.be/AZGO39Viorg
8:30 this is a short clip of her jumping to the branch and showing her spots.
then she just stood there and looked around.... and preened herself a little every now and then.
9:11 she jumped to the left branch.
9:12 she pooped on the nest. then she flew away.
is this Raimis? or the strange lady? feathers are dry...
10:42 the eagle flew away.
here's the whole stay. i think this was our Milda. the spots on the tail were small and she was quite dry.
10:38 she came and she looked were suspiciously around. i'm sure she knew that someone strange is around.
i made two pairs of pictures of these two ladies. Milda was looking partly away so their beaks can't be compared. also the light is different. the wing patterns are quite different.
the strange lady has alternetly dark and light feathers on the edge of her wing: dark light dark light etc.
the tail spots are different sizes. Milda has small spots and the strange lady slightly larger, but not nearly as large as Raimis. Milda's spots are more symmetric than the strange lady's.
- i hope i don't need to invent a working name for this girl.
the right spot of the stranger is larger than the left. this is not visible in the above picture but i got pictures yesterday which show this.
11:17 it's Raimis. he returned to the nest and then Milda arrived with a small and short stick.
edit: Milda brought a small green twig.
they started nest work.
11:18 Raimis went back to the left branch. he had a straw dangling down in the back of his trousers.
