~ 19:00, the walnut branch was placed in front of the camera by the wind and largely blocked the view.

~ 21:20 a parent, probably Osis, brought another fish of normal size, but left it in the nest and flew away.

The poor hungry Knips tried several times on the fish, could open it a bit, pulled and pulled very well, but could hardly manage to eat some of it. Then, when the fish was slightly open, Boss came and took the fish away from Knips. Boss also had no success and lost interest. Knips stole the fish back and tried his luck again with great zeal, but without significant success.

21:41 hard working little Knips
Image

21:43 he held the fish to his stomach and with his feet a stick across it. With his beak he teared tiny morsels, but not worth talking about getting something in his stomach.
That was so touching.

21:48 Mom, that's an impossible task for me. I'm still so small. :help:

after another while Knips gave up

22:09 Cilla came into the nest and fed the fish to Boss. Knips had no chance, Boss did not let him come forward for feeding. Knips wept quietly, but incessantly
Image

22:11 Knips with head down must stay away, still quietly sobbing
Image

22:19, just as Knips dared to move forward, Cilla left the nest. There was nothing left for Knips. Now he has not eaten all day and will have to sleep the night very hungry. I feel so sorry for him

07:52 Parent with a fish. I am not sure if Knips got anything. It was close to the table but mostly threatened and chased by Boss.

When wind gusts soften, we can see the eaglets. But it is still too windy so the ash leaves are blowing in front of cam almost constantly.

09:02 Parent with another fish. Fish is not seen but you can be sure fish is there because Boss is badly pecking the little Knips :( Knips has been fed too! :loveshower:

11:54 a fish delivered

12:29 a big bird delivered, feeding. Everybody will be full

balistar, Marfo, Lubaska... Your today's reports & pics are so so needed!
:gathering:
It has been exciting again! But we can relax at last, thanks to Osis & Cilla as well.
I remember reading that other meat than fish is even better when hungry and some weakness with babies, because real usual meat includes more protein, different fat and such which nourish beter and keep crops full longer. Have you heard of this? Anyway, poor bird got to be eaten, but... our Knips  , and Boss, .

:hi: Sylvika, you are certainly right. However, I believe that the bird delivery - it was two, a nestling and a slightly larger - were brought, because in this strong wind, it is difficult to catch fish from the sea. So they had to redeploy.

12:54
Anyway, little Knips had to take many blows from Boss again today,
but also got a wonderfully filled crop. :shake:
Image

Boss pecked also several times at Cilla. Why? :puzzled: Boss did eat well, too.

13:37 Knips has a "green crown" :D
Image

Today there are still strong gusts of wind. At times it looks like this:
13:38 almost "Looduskalender-Green"

In the chat of Estonian WTE cam Anna Neitševa wrote that in Thursday will be ringing in this Latvian nest (if the wind conditions are better)

:hi: Hellem,
thank you for this information :D
Ligzdas Gariņš wrote the same on the YT-stream-chat.
And we all hope that they will bring the "garden shears" with them, as Marfo has suggested

EDIT 18:46
"Latvijas Dabas fonds" gave this information on the YT-chat:
- if all goes as planned, we will see ringing in this nest on Thursday evening.

Boss in the background is doing some more wing exercising

16:20 careful body care, not easy with huge crops

Unfortunately when the wind calmed down the "Houdini curtain" fell and stayed until dark.
Hopefully tomorrow we have a free view to the nest again.

10:41:55 I hear a sound like there is someone in the nest moving the furniture
maybe there was a feeding and this noise was if parent was feaking the beak at the tree trunk :puzzled:

10:42:13 parent maybe flew to parent's branch on the right and shouted out - or was it Knips's voice ? :puzzled: ....lucky one who has a good ear :D
