June 9th

Good morning, good day :hi:

A milestone for Bossa - this morning around 7:00 she ate her first fishy by herself :loveshower:

06:48 eaglets sleeping in spoon position - cute :innocent:
Image

07:03 parent, I think Osis, brought a small flatfish - Bossa grabbed it,
Osis wanted to take it back and feed, but Bossa claimed it and turned around
Image

Osis (?) flew to the right branch below - ok, kids, then try self feeding, 07:04 flew off

June 10th

Night is very short in the nest these days. Deep darkness in the nest is seen only for less than 3 hours. Between midnight and 3:00.

07:54 1st garfish delivered by a parent, but parent left.

Image

Bose occupied a fish, Knips called "feed me, feed me, I would like to try this fish" but nobody listened to him. Bose did a lot of self feeding then

08:15
Image

Knips was not satisfied with situation so he decided to pull a fish which Bose was standing on and he stole it successfully :rotf: He got one third of fish.

Image

30 minutes later he was still working on it. Poor baby. Still too young for self feeding. Different with Bose can be easily seen.

08:49 Osis came with another garfish and started to feed the eaglets. Bose threatened Knips several times but Knips was so hungry that he kept a good position for feeding and he started to take bites after few minutes too.

Image

Parent has found all the leftovers from previous fish (that parts Knips was not able to eat himself) and fed them to eaglets. Fact is that Bose ate 3/4 of those 2 fish. Knips got a very long part with fishtail and he gulped it but then he had problems and was not able to eat for couple of minutes. It was too big piece...

09:01 parent left the nest

09:30 parent in with food. I cant recognize what it is. Doesnt look like fish. Parents beak is bloody and Knips who is being fed has something stuck in his throat.

Image

It was a garfish.

Late breakfast or an early lunch has ended

Knips in food coma

Bose did the same after 2 fish feeding, snoozing in sitting position with head decreasing down, funny to watch!

Knips is growing quickly, standing firmly on his feet. Nice to see him to prosper! And with full "pantry" under his beak

 Lubaska, I think that I see rings on the chicks? :puzzled:
So I came to read in the forum to find a video of the ringing.
I will back track more pages to see if my eyes are that deceiving or that the chicks are truly blinged out!
20:39 the chicks have been calling for Fish for a while now.

Edit, 20:42 Yes!! The chicks have rings!!

10:02 chicks are still lying and sitting together, yawning and looking over the edge to see if food is coming and what else is happening in the world.

10:26 Bose playing with ash leaves, nibbling and tearing them. She will have a beautiful nest with plenty of greenery in the future, I guess.

Image

10:28 a minute later first fish (flatfish) delivered. Parent left it on the ground and jumped to parent s branch.

Image

10:34 Bose was trying to feed herself when a terrible noise was heard, adult eagle was seen flying over the forest...

Image

and 2 giant birds (hellicopters) flew over the cuckoo (and eagle  ) nest. Eaglets have not moved for some time after this experience... being shocked.

Image

Seems that NATO military excercises have just started in Latvia. :puzzled:

Those helicopters were probably flying to help to extinguish a major fire at the military base... burning from Saturday. :dunno:
