Sonchik, i think that they are just keeping guard in case someone should come. i don't believe that they see anything and i think they are happy about it. they have to watch and see if the forest is safe or not. safety is utmost important for them now.

btw: big birds like swans and geese migrate as far South as they have to, not farther. swans need open water for feeding and geese open feeding grounds. the archipelago between Finland and Sweden is full of swans, both whoopers and mutes. some swans even don't migrate at all. there is a group of swans staying in Kajaani in northern Finland (actually in the middle of Finland) in a river which stays open all winter.
