i made some clips from last night. this was a difficult job because the Moon was covered by clouds and there was also more noise than in previous nights. it was difficult to find interesting things by sound only. anyway, here are some.

2:20 the clouds moved away from the Moon and there was some light. it became possible to see Milda.

3:51 cranes called. -they are funny birds (like swans, too), they can be up almost at any time in the night and call. in one these nights they called again and again, many times in the middle of the night.

4:49 Milda got up and a woodcock flew by calling. Milda preened and stretched her wings.

6:27 the green sandpiper flew by calling loud.


6:31 Raimis brought a fish.


he went up to the top branch. Milda started feeding.

7:10 Milda flew out. a second after this the chick on the right punched the one on the left.


4 s later Raimis followed Milda.


17 s later Raimis returned. then he fed the babies.


8:05 Milda returned. she may have brought a twig or a stick but it was impossible to get a clear picture of it.


8:07 Raimis flew away.

9:03 Milda started to call. she saw something in the sky.

and again.
again. i think she is not especially happy with what she sees.

the two swans are flying around and calling, too, but i don't think Milda minds them.
she called and looked the other way

9:06 i think a strange eagle flew by. that was the reason why Milda called. i made a close-up clip of this. (the bird may have been a crow, too. it was too far to tell for certain).

Raimis nust be far, where he can find half-eaten fishies... I'm not happy with his work He is very lazy again. This morning he took a siesta on the upper tower, watching the view instead of looking for food.

At about 10.10 am eagle became very angry, wings wide spread. Something flew over the nest. She was protecting chicks.

10:10 Milda continued calling.


10:28 Milda started calling again. she is looking in the sky...

i guess is that there's crow.

i see no reason why there should be more fish than one at a time in the larder.
we remember Robert who was a Super-Daddy. he had 10 rotting fish on the nest at all times.

10:36 Milda started calling really loud and with a good reason: a strange eagle flew around the nest several times.


i think i saw a stripy tail. it was a young eagle.

10:38 i think the stranger flew away. at least Milda seemed to relax.

10:40 no relaxing, more calls...

10:42 relaxing.

10:27 - 10:42 the whole episode with the stripy young eagle visiting.


a strange eagle was probably sitting in some tree nearby for a long time and Milda kept complaining about it. seeing this eagle makes me think that the earlier unwanted visitor at 9:00 onward was probably this eagle as well.

10:46 Milda looked at the kids. then she called a little.

after 11:46 every now and then, till 12:07. i can't see why. possibly the stranger was still hanging around.


12:12 she looked in the sky and called. whoever the unwanted visitor was it was very persistent (curious?).
