Bad news: The Eaglet, saved by Janis K, died of his lead poisoning.
They found it when they built an artificial nest for black stork.
Lead is still used. Also in Germany. Most eagles die of lead poisoning. They (Germans) finally want to change the law.

thank you for the news Liz, although it was bad news.
let's hope that the new year will change will brings better future.

Biker, that looks like a crossbill lady. those were around at the same time as the woodpecker.

i almost forgot this:
13:11 the eagles sang in the forest. both voices. Milda started, Raimis joined and finished.

one stick on the front rim of the nest was slipping and sliding in the wind.

it ended up hanging vertically on the front right. it looked almost like praying mantis when the wind was swaying it when the side forks of the stick were stuck on other sticks and stopped it from falling.

the stick was there still when it became dark. it will be interesting to see if it sees the new year on the nest. :whistling:

Yes, it's bad news :slap:
But I'm sure he was receiving very good care and met dedicated workers who didn't let him suffer during his last days. :innocent:
