By the way, I thought it great how he managed to prevent the fish from dropping. With one leg only he dragged that big lump up - he's developed good leg muscles, obviously.
I admired it, too! :2thumbsup:
Mika flew away as well, holding the fish with one paw.

Remember your childhood. Did you play catch-up or hide-and-seek? Were you a little scared when you were caught up or found? Perhaps you even screamed?
That's the kind of fear I mean. Venturesome.
Mika showed her courage more than once. She no longer feels real fear. Perhaps, in childhood was.
Good - that sounds much better. I hope, however, Mika is not like me: When I was little and had snatched something somebody else wanted, too, and the other person started running after me, unfailingly I would shriek and let the whatever it was thing drop, so that the other person wouldn't hunt me any longer  I sure hope Mika does not drop the fish to avoid Rika chasing him!

Great pics - those wings, fantastic!
From the sounds following after this scene, I would have hope that he was able to enjoy the fish, or at least a good part of it. Rika was heard, at least I thought so, for a long time in search mode. Also I had the impression that he got away very fast, his sounds faded quickly. But of course, that's all speculation. Such a pity we never know what exactly happens when we hear all those sounds and let our minds run wild with visions

Today we saw how well Mika handles the food on the branches (and how she screams). I believe she very rarely drops the fish.

AUGUST 16th

Good Morning!

About 06:40 - 07:00 There was much action in the forest, it was very noisy; sounded like there were Flying Fishies involved.

06:43 Conversation between Crow and Jay ?

Around 06:45 some birds on the tree, Pigeons?

what time is this? :puzzled:
actually i saw this event when i was making videos yesterday but i didn't make a video. now i made. :D
20:36 a wood pigeon (or even two) landed on the top. the mystery bird called loud (i suspect this is a jay but i'd like to see it calling this call). i found this voice and as a by-product the wood pigeon landing on the tree.
20:51 the wood pigeon flew away from the top with loud noise.

i found a lot more calls from yesterday evening.
19:05 onward an eaglet called many times about twice per minute. it may have started already earlier.
19:10 the calls changed to a fish song which went on and on at least till 19:15.

19:28 the calls went on (maybe there was no real break).
also Milda called short.

5:27 mega2 heard the first eaglet's calls.
5:28 the parents sang far. then again an eaglet caller closer.

Sonchik found these calls later:
5:31 Miks called.
5:32 again.
5:33 again. - i didn't look up more.

5:54 - 5:58 the eaglets called several times rather far.

5:58 Miks flew closer crying on his way. at the same time an interesting bird's voice near the nest.
6:01 Miks called near and Rika at a larger distance.

6:42 eaglets were crying and calling. crows (and ravens at times) were talking with jays...
the wood pigeon finally finished its preening hour on the outer left branch and flew away with other pigeons.

6:50 eaglets cried and flew farther. 6:54 they cried far for a long time, first continuously but then occasionally at least till 7:06. i think this must have been a feeding like Abigyl wrote.

i think i have heard distant eaglet's voices
9:29:30 very far
9:30:40 very far
9:32:52
9:33:27 both voices Miks closer and Rika is the one who was far and calling more often . and 56.
9:35:36
9:36:46
9:38:30 these last calls were Rika very far (i think)

after this i was not listening.

10:31:53 an adult flew by from right to left. it's impossible to see if the parent was carrying something.
Image

then eaglet's cries from far. the wind blew most voices away. :slap:

the cries went but only fragments could be heard. any way i think there was a Flying Fish involved. 8-)

eaglet's voices from far and/or suppressed by the wind.
11:37:25 Rika
11:45:40 Rika
11:49:47 Rika
11:51:04 Rika, 22 Miks and 40 Miks.

these have sounded like 'normal' communication calls. i'm not 100%-sure who called when but there were two voices in two palaces. 'Miks' was closer than 'Rika'.

At 6:02:58 on the left, the bird flew away. Before that, she sang a high voice similar to osprey.
At 6:16, a pigeon arrived on the left branch. Left at 6:49.

to me it seemed that the bird who flew away was a wood pigeon.
it flapped its wings in a typical way before it was seen (the take-off sound). i made a picture of two frames of the same bird.
Image

i think that the bird who made the voices was someone else, perhaps on the top. i think i heard its voice at 5:58:50 for the first time.
besides i think i heard one beep of the "osprey" at 6:03:4.
the voice resembled ospreys voice. another suspect is a woodpecker of some sort.
