6:38:40 A parent and the eaglet are calling. or were it just the eaglet? The wind does not help me with the identification
6:39:50 clearly to hear, that both eaglets are calling
6:40:30 again both are calling fish, fish, fish

6:41:28 a crow
6:41:49 eaglet
6:42 eaglet? or parent.. rather an eaglet :puzzled:
6:42:35 eaglet
6:42:52 further away another eaglet or?
6:44:00 eaglet is calling loud and near

6:45 they are very talk active. I think yesterday they got nothing to eat. the weather was too bad.
6:53 both are still begging

7:25:28- eaglet flew away- screaming- on the right
7:25:40 eaglet is screaming (he must be on the nest tree)

came back - both on the nest tree and screaming
7:26:02 it left the nest tree and an eaglet? EDIT: it is parent who flew to the tree top
Image

7:26:07 eagle flew to the right. Parent did not land on the tree top. So it was only a flyby by an adult
Image

an eaglet is loud screaming

7:26:46 a wing is visible on the left
Image

7:26:50 flew away screaming

7:27:28 calling from far

good morning!
thank you for the reports!

7:52 (about) a greater spotted woodpecker visited.
7:54:30 an eaglet rather near. sounded like Miks.
7:56:40 Rika.

this morning i have no recordings, yet. i had trouble getting my Potplayer working but fortunately it started. i'll have re-record from screen, but i will not hunt down all the calls. it is enough that Liz has written them down here.

i have now managed to re-record the main events of this morning without any difficulties which is very unusual.

first a video of some of the calls that Liz heard earlier.
6:36 - 6:54

i think that Miks visited the top of the spruce on the right.
6:54 he flew there and yodelled and screamed there as he was trying to make a balance on the top.
6:56 he flew away to the direction of the swan pond. surprisingly he didn't make any voices as he flew away.

7:25:25 Rika landed on the top of the nest tree. the tree was swinging a little and her feet made a kops- sound. she called on the top.
7:25:29 a big bird flew by on the right towards the spruce but didn't stop there. it seemed to have a white tail.
5 s later a crow called. then another and Rike pieep'ed a lot. a crow called closer.
7:26:02 the nest tree shook and a parent flew by in the top left corner and the top right corner. Rika cried on the top for a rather long time. - be careful, the sound is loud with the naked microphone!
7:26:47 the tips of her wing feathers were seen on the left side. she was practically sitting "on" the camera.
7:26:49 she took off. then she cried behind our backs.

7:38 - 7:45 a hooded crow (Corvus corone cornix) was on the top of the spruce on the right.
the crow called at about 1 s intervals and nodded its head each time. the nod was about 0.5 s offset from the call. speed of sound is 330 meters per second. so the tree is about 150 meters away from the nest tree. :whistling:

Biruta Lapa reports in the YT chat the she heard eagle's voice at 11:27.

11:34:20 (about) Rika called. it's difficult to say whether she is far or does the wind blow her voice away. maybe both.

In the photo, it looks much closer.
Maybe the sound doesn't match the video again?

did something special happen 12:44 - 14:29?

Biruta Lapa has heard eagle's voices at 12:56, 13:08 and 13:49.
thank you!

14:36:35 an eaglet's voice from "under" the wind.

yes, it does...? is that the tree which we see? :puzzled:
those two spruces may both be behind our backs.

yes, i think that the sound didn't match the video. the nods seemed to come after the calls. however, the time from a nod to a call bot before and after was about the same 0.5 s. that is what counts. it was like watching someone chopping a log with an axe at a regular pace at a suitable distance. every time the axe is high there's the sound and when we see the axe hitting the log there's no sound.

These spruce can't be both behind our backs as all three stand in a straight line. The camera gives a view of more than 180° and one of them we must see. If we don't see the spruce on the left, we see the spruce on the right. :shake:
This spruce stands out, it 's "narrow."

At 8:52, a strange sound.
At 8:59, the scream is eagle, then the scream is parent. Screams are building up.
At 9:04, the crow sat on the upper branch behind and shouted loudly. Then she flew to the spruce on the right.
At 9:13, 9:25, 9:28, 9:30, 9:37, 9:41, 9:46, 10:08, 10:51 voice of an eaglet.

i got a reply from Janis about the night vision camera. i think i may make a direct quote of his reply
"We have been thinking for it already for some while, as you know there is a night visibility provided at Eagle owl nestcam. The problem is that IR cameras are comparatively big and bulky, additionally there should be an IR projector installed. All of that means installing of new hardware in the direct proximity of nest and with WTE’s it is not a good idea. We are following developments in this field and if appropriate hardware will appear in the market, we can go for it."

the underlining is made by me. i agree with Janis: the eagles might abandon the nest because of such new equipment. it is not worth the risk. (... but i should, however, like to see Mrs Tawny Owl on the nest. :whistling: )
