if i remember right the osprey made visits on two consecutive days. Aug 6th 2017 seems to be one of the dates.
the tree and the nest is appealing to ospreys. they want to have a nest in the penthouse, the highest top of a tree (or something like that). this nest is very close to that.

... but did we have a duck couple here?? :puzzled:
in 2012 a mallard laid eggs in the Saunja nest when the eagles had chosen another place.
besides: it was a single mom mallard. male mallards dump their fiancées after mating and the girls build their nests alone.

the first post with the osprey in 2017 on Aug 6th at 14:09:
viewtopic.php?p=546372#p546372

in a quick survey i didn't find another visit of the osprey. there were a lot of other birds though. this nest was far more interesting when it was not established as an eagle's nest. *sigh*

good night! :offtobed:

good morning!
thank you for your reports!

5:37 Milda was awake so and so: she yawned a few times (or perhaps she had a pellet stuck in her throat).
5:38 she was looking around and listening... she said kaa-kaa-kaa.
5:39 she got up and stretched her wings an leg. then she preened and scratched her ear.
5:40 she called loud. then preened more. ... and gave the eggs a good rolling.
5:42 she went to toilet.
Image

then she covered the eggs. :innocent:

6:06 Raimis brought a small stick. Milda talked to him.
Image

there was a raven who said grro!- groo! but that was rather far. a little later a crow called krraaa-kraaa-krraa. both eagles looked at it fly... (was out of sight)

6:08 Milda got up and stepped to the left branch. the top of the nest is so high that it is possible. :D
Image

then Milda went to the top branch and flew away.
