this time Milda started crying in the forest well before Raimis actually came, already at 6:59.
7:04 - 7:11 Milda fed Riks.
7:11 - 7:15 Milda fed Mika. (mostly each i think.)
after the feeding both had round crops, Riks of course bigger than Mika.

8:30 Mika pooped, luckily aside.

8:40 Riks pooped.


8:41 Milda flew out.

8:46 Milda returned with a bunch of hay.

9:26 the chicks measured beaks. as soon as they get food also Mika brightened up and she stands up with Riks.

9:51 one of the first true summer birds sang, a rose finch (Carpodacus erythrinus).

Mika has a nice Cropy,

it's not a CROP by now, but things are much better now.

I don't think the 2-3 days of shortage were because of the ponds or fish.

Since it was about same age last year, when kids were around 3 weeks, looks like parents were kind of tired or not in good mood.
This weekend they'll be about 1 month old!

i remember that the weekends were bad last spring. also last weekend went with little food. my guess is that there are human fishermen fishing in the waters of Raimis. he can't go there when humans are around. i don't believe that the eagles are not fishing because they are tired or moody. they have a good reason not to bring food. human disturbance is the best of reasons.
i also remember that last year MĀRIS in DDF was speculating about waters becoming too warm and fish starting to swim deeper than usually, beyond the reach of eagles.

Milda was standing in front of the kids which made it difficult who was where and who got fed. i think both were.
