Oh, that's so sad. But it is good that only one chick will hatch here

The Latvian forum is not reachable or do I make something wrong? Tried to look there now but the screen shows only this:

NB - the address was the one which was given in the beginning after the cam went online

Is it little white feathers who is lying around in the nest? Just like it did in Tuulis nest before hatching.

Just saw, Lussi: in this nest the lighter bird is Macho, the darker is Mētra.
But I also thought, that now it is Mētra :puzzled:

Today around lunchtime, Macho is the left one, as far as I know (now I'm not so sure anymore)

Thanks for the information, Grieta, I had hoped that maybe you have pictures there, that's why I wanted to look. Reading I can't, though I do try to understand as many things as possible. I fear Latvian is so different from anything I have learnt so far, so I have not the faintest idea :puzzled:

I was also very confused because I thought I saw a MIX of Metra and Macho in the nest  It depended in what light I saw him in. It was good that Grieta cleared the case for us :rotf:

Edit: I guess that Metra & Macho have got a second egg from another nest?
18:30- Macho is still in the nest, arranging and looking after eggs.

Thank you Grieta and Felis. The egg was looking bigger in Ugis hand than I think they are when I see them in the nest

Let's hope Mētra will also come back to the nest! :puzzled:
Grieta, are Latvian "Abel" chicks still taken to raise for German nests? I read that it was done to re-populate LSE to certain areas!

I am almost certain that I saw a hole in one of the eggs now. Still Macho at home, it is nice to see him there when he is needed

Now the sound is also back. Maybe it was turned off for the exchange?

Edit: 19:45
McNasty tried to open his beak for a minute, but now it was Macho who gave him " the look" and he was quiet immediately :rotf:

I'm happy to hear that, Grieta! In that short time I have come to like these birds very much and I sincerely hope that they find a new habitat in my home country (though it will be still far away from me).

Macho is doing his name "Lesser Spotted Eagle" all honour!
I hope Mētra will be back soon! I'm getting a bit worried!

Now my respect for Macho is growing. It is remarkable that we have seen him so rarely in the nest, and now, when Ugis replaced one damaged egg with a fresh one, he really does his job :loveshower:
( but however: Metra, please come back  )
