Re: Estonian LSE (formerly BS) Webcam 2011.
The last I heard was wing flapping and rustling on the left. Hopefully Tormi sits resting on a branch somewhere.

How will we know when Tormi fledges?

We will not know for sure, but when the parents are not coming to the nest anymore with food, and Tormi will not come to the nest either, they will be in nearby trees and forget the nest.beans wrote:How will we know when Tormi fledges?

At the moment also Pontu has no view of Tormi! And I have heard the same as you, Jopie, and I had a feeling of Tormi flying away from the nest. Another LSE was calling further off at that time!
Might have been one of the parents flying off, but it was strange! And it is very quiet at the nest!
I think Tuuli also did not come to the nest last night already! Tormi slept on the left branch, at least (s)he was there until it was too dark and late to see and hear anything! And by the time Pontu came on in the morning, nest was empty again.

Felis, I also heard that LSE calling right after Tormi left and thought it was Tormi experiencing flying for the first time. It sounded like that. I also watched untill pitch dark (and after) and Tormi slept on the branch indeed. Too bad for the viewers there is no Pontu. It can be of great help sometimes.Felis silvestris wrote:At the moment also Pontu has no view of Tormi! Bubo, that is not so very different from the normal cam as I thougt. The upper side is stretched out, that big branch, but very much the same view. Thanks for that!

towards the left a bit is missing, and to the top, but I'd like to have a movable camera
We will see, if Tormi comes down, or if a parent comes to the nest

Oliv, I was wondering about that too. Tormi (and Tuuli also) can make a sound that is a bit of a hoarse throat sound. I heard it several times since half an hour and some rustling noises. That's why I thought Tormi was nearby. Now I don't know anymore. I sure hope Tormi returns for the nightoliv wrote:Is it Tormi that strange whistling (or what it is)

Felis, I am afraid that if it WAS Tormi we heard, she will have landed much lower than the nest, and can't make it back to the nest tonight. Remo and Tuuli know where Tormi is, I am sure of that. But I will wait untill dark, and afterFelis silvestris wrote:towards the left a bit is missing, and to the top, but I'd like to have a movable camera

I guess so, had a strange feeling that moment! Well, that's how life goes! Kids leave the nest!
Good night Jopie!
