Yes it's best not to take any chances. They are very vulnerable in their nestlife.
So it's time for Nappu to be protected again...pore creatures, the next four weeks will be very hard for her...and Nanu, and maybe for you too Olga
Thank you for pictures and videos of Paula and her friends. It's great to see that all the snow finally is gone, and that the beautiful Hepatica nobilis, or maybe the more appropriately name I found - Squirrel cups- are blooming..
( my dictionary also have the name liverleaf and blue anemone)

kind of exciting
Good luck!!

I have the feeder just behind my work room window (I have always a black curtain on the window, ready to pull in front of me as soon as needed). Squirrels here are shy and alert, they don't 'accept' me - I have never tried to 'talk' or to make any contact with them - but of course, some of the them are more brave, and do not escape at the second the curtain moves..

For almost three years go a just happened to put the feeder there, for birds. Soon the first squirrel was there, watching like surprised at me (look at the avatar).. She was called then 'long ear'). :D The history of Squirrel Hill, Part I 8-) )

The 'White anemones' Anemone nemorosa will be all open soon, and then the 'Yellow anemones' - Anemone ranunculoides will bloom after them. I have them in one corner of the yard, just 6-8). Normally the yellow anemones do not grow her, but once upon the time the breeder of my first dog, Girju, gave me a tiny bit of the root of it.. 30 km from here these rarities can be seen more, they need soil with 'calix'-- (lime?) more than we have here, perhaps, I suppose..

The Squirrel hill is blooming for the moment, there are some little blue lakes of 'Blue anemones'!

edit: I forgot, there are here also 'red anemones' here, pink I would say. But I don't know for sure, people just say: they are red Blue anemones, it's perhaps not a special 'species' of anemones, just a variant among the blue ones.. google: https://www.google.fi/search?q=punavuok ... 55&bih=646

With dogs it is all calm, for the moment.. :faint: But I know what it will be, quite stressful time for Nanu firs of all, his nose is working even though he can't see Nappu  .. But he will be alright at last, he will forget his matters as soon as Nappu is not that much interested on him.. Nappu is cool, calm but playful, and she likes to be with me through day and night...

A beautiful picture of Nappu in her sleep Olga. And I forgot to say that the pictures of her and Nanu also are great. They are beautiful dogs.
I have read that the acidity of the soil is the reason why the Blue anemones sometimes turn into "Red anemones".

Good night

Mops - yes, I saw her yesterday I think! :rotf: Pitti, you gave me a hint! The yesterday's squirrel has to be Mops! It is a she, and her pups are about 2-3 weeks old, supposedly she has delivered them rather soon since we saw her for three weeks ago!

Also she has to have been pregnant on the 10th April:

Pics from 10th April videos, 5 + 5 on the next post:

She was more gray then of course, but her face was brown..

Mops, on the 10th April, looking out rather round on her stomach:

Yes, there is no other possibility.. (if this one and the yesterday's colorful squirrel are not twin sisters)

Is she one of the last year's females may stay as secret.. but who knows..

To guess who? :D

some videos and more pics will be uploaded later, perhaps tomorrow they are ready..

Two videos were ready! My PC had connections problems! I believed I have to upload everything from beginning one more time:

The squirrel behaved like that, it just sat there at whiles and watched to the lens..I didn't show me, I never show my face nor my hands. Perhaps it could see my finger.. I didnt' cut almost anything from the 'original', just some fast movements of the camera.

Maybe she tried to decide if you made enough photos to identify her? So cute!
And Nappu as well! :loveshower:

For one hour later on appeared Mops! She was coming and going during the whole morning, perhaps ten times she came and left, she collected nuts and stored them on the other side of the house, in the soil.. in my vegetable plot. Some times she also run towards the parking place, mouth full of nuts.
