The second chick started hatching on June 16, but until it is out of the shell completely I would say it is in the process of hatching. When chicks fully emerge at night, sometimes all we can say is when they were first seen. This is how I recorded it on page 1:beans wrote:Macko, are we saying the second chick hatched on June 16 or Jun 17 (Estonian time)?
Egg #2 May 10 - Hatched June 17, first seen at 3:51

beans, your pictures with the video actually are there with the video - if they disappeared, they came back again

They are growing so fast!
In the video I posted (previous page?), Dad osprey seemed almost alarmed when he arrived with a fish and Mom was not there. He looked around, almost stepped on the babies, and seemed relieved when she returned.
Taking care of their young is instinctive, and each parent has a job to do. I wonder whether or not he would have fed the youngsters himself if Mom had been gone much longer.

Thanks to all for posts, pics and videos.
I see its very windy but Piret is sitting snugly on the nest.
Its been a busy day for me,visitors and voting. So I could only catch glimpses now and then.
