Dear Friends of the Great Osprey, it has been a great pleasure and privilege to see this wild family grow up. Thank you Estonia! :loveshower: The Osprey are beautiful, magnificant birds with true hearts of courage. Kind and gentle mommy Piret and "super" daddy Madis have been wonderful parents to the chicks; they all grew up so healthy and strong. I knew when Nori was hatched late that she would also be loved and would be an important member to the family, and never forgotten. Also, many thanks to those posting pics and videos as I am in a different time zone here in Canada. I have stayed up very late at night just to catch a glimpse of the beautiful babies. Lately, I could hear in Nori's voice when she was chirping to Madis, how upset she was without her siblings, and she clamped onto Madis' toes because she didn't want him to leave her all alone in the nest. I like to think that Madis and Nori finally flew off together, and Madis would drop Nori off to join her brothers in Egypt, then he would join Piret in Africa for a well deserved vacation. May you all stay safe

In this final episode of the Osprey Odyssey, part 5, we see a rich tapestry of colours and textures as the adult wings grow on the chickies. and oh my goodness, what an amazing wingspan, truly a glorous sight to see when the chicks became young fledglings, and to see them fly into the forest....I will never forget :D

I must say that I have enjoyed this nest so much! I didn't think I could get attached to some birds clear across oceans but I did! You all are wonderful, it has been very entertaining and I have learned so much! I feel sad to see Nori go, but it would be sadder if she didn't, because that would mean something was wrong...

God Speed little ones, Uno, Elo and Nori! Have a safe journey and come back home in just a few years! :loveshower: :loveshower: :loveshower:

Thank you ESTLAT! Thank you Urmas! And thank you forum members for sharing! I will be back in the spring!

Hi Cara

What a beautiful, beautiful picture!!

Thank you all for being good friends, good company, providing information, keeping watch, keeping records, posting photos, creating wonderful videos and for being here.

Thank you Dr. Madis, Urmas, Joosep, Looduskalender, and everyone else who is responsible for providing this wonderful website, answering our questions, going out of your way to help the birds, the animals and putting up with our questions, emails and explaining how things really were for the birds when we couldn't possibly know from just behind a computer screen. Well done, everyone!

But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,

Hi Everybody on Looduskalender.
It is a while, I was here.
From last of August I got sick, and came home middle in September.
Here, I gathered my pictures on Picasa, and now, I would like to invite you all to see my albums of "our" Ospreys. I had managed to "catch" some.
I had read some comment's on Forum, how you miss birds and have syndrome of empty nest. I do too.
I love the discussion about transmitter. I had not read all comments yet, but I'm, and I always was, totally opponent of them.

Thank you all for pictures, films, comments. It was specially important to me, when I could not see anything. To be updated because of all of you - make me smile. Thank you so, so much.

If you have a little time:

Hi, Meierlein.
To answer your question:
“The Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), sometimes known as the sea hawk, fish eagle or fish hawk, is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey.”
That is the official information in any lexicon.
To answer little more: It was my beginning with collection of photos from website. I did not know then, that I would collect as many pictures, as I have.
The first album had been album of Ospreys (Sea Hawk). But, when I made so many pictures, I started another album in the moment baby-ospreys clucked. Therefore, today’s name means just they are with eggs, they are in waiting time for "our babies".
The next albums are with Uno, Elo and Nori clucked up. They are a whole family.
Maybe would be easier just change the names of albums, but right now this is my explanation.
I hope it is understandable.
And I hope you enjoyed, a little, to remember spring’s and summer’s time in Estonia.

 Fleur told me about the snow-covered nest pictures, so I moved them to this topic: viewtopic.php?f=56&t=525

It includes "conversation" posts from the original Osprey Nest 1 topic - we are splitting that topic so that all the fish delivery pictures are in one place and the conversations in another. That new topic will be open so if there are more nest pictures, please post them there. :2thumbsup:
