I have seen many Latvian names on the list and had already wondered! We are only 62 signatures short of 500! :shake:
A huge THANKS to everyone who made that possible!

Shall we wait until the weekend to close it? Opinions, please! :innocent:

I think I would wait until Monday -- unless maybe signatures really stop being added.
The letters people have sent have kept the issue on the table for the officials -- the petition can be seen as a sort of follow up.

We are now up to 526 signatures!! Nilla posted in the BirdlifeFinland website and I've been going through all the groups, again, posting as much as I can without getting run off.

I think if we all can share this with any birding group we belong to, plus our friends outside the forums who woudl be more likely to sign, then we should and keep on doing what we are doing right now.

I found a very interesting page on Facebook that I had joined but maybe not posted the petition in, before. It's posted now, although it looks like the software on Facebook may have changed a bit of my text (not the petition itself but what I had written outside the petition), to something else. :puzzled:

This is an Estonian group called Eestimaa Looduse Fond and I urge members here who are promoting the petition to go read whatever they can on the page. There is a LOT of talk about what happened to Nimeta and you may be able to pick up on things my Chrome translator doesn't "see". This group has over 3,000 members so this was an excellent place to post the petition. There is talk of other raptors having been shot, some poisoned and some even killed in traps!

Please read there if you can and report back here what you are seeing because like I said, my translator in my browser may not pick it up correctly and I would really like to see what is being said.

https://www.facebook.com/Eestimaa.Looduse.Fond

Thank you all for any help you can give for this cause.

By the way,
Isn't this ELF the place where dr. Madis is active in??? I've seeen that logo when he has posted here.

And Chimega: Jan Södersved from BirdlifeFinland answered me, and he gave me the permission to put the petition on their facebook site. Let's hope for hundreds of new signers (2400 members there)

Hey Manu and Nilla - Yes, I have been on those pages before, too. And, yes, I do believe Dr Madis has some type of activity with that group on Facebook but I don't see that he posts there. Maybe he just looks to see what they talk about so he can use that information in his work.

As far as the petition on that Facebook page, when I posted it, it changed my text to say the eagle, Nimeta, was from Canada and the actual link says INDIA  :slap: But that may be what my Chrome translator is saying and not what is actually there. It also translated my text to say Nimeta's name is name and that the poll is CLOSED! :slap: :headroll:

The text in the actual petition does not change and is correct! Can people please go check that and see if it is showing up correctly for you and let me know? If it's not, I will need to get someone from Estonia who has a Facebook account to go repost the petition so that it reads correctly in the title and what I said above the link. I will have to give them the correct text, too. The page is at https://www.facebook.com/Eestimaa.Looduse.Fond
Then you go over to the right side of the page and there are a group of posts that are all together. You have to expand the text where it says Recent Posts by the Estonian Fund for Nature Others. Then it should be right there for you to read.

Thank you all very much.

Chimega, i don´t see any problem there. The link what you posted on ELF provides to original petition site.

Juta, thank you for this interesting link.
Under NEWS there is an article about Nimeta, but not yet updated.
Do you know - this homepage is updated at regular intervals?
In any case, I think we should inform the Public Relations department of ELF on our petition as soon as it is completed.

Yes, I am aware they're not a Facebook group, however, they have their own Facebook page.

Chimega! Now the petition is shown there. It seems like it should. And I put a different reminder/comment there too(under a Nimeta-news posted the11th ), in finnish because the estonians understand the finnish language.

quote Chimega :"The text in the actual petition does not change and is correct! Can people please go check that and see if it is showing up correctly for you and let me know? If it's not, I will need to get someone from Estonia who has a Facebook account to go repost the petition so that it reads correctly in the title and what I said above the link. Eden, I have no idea about updates. It´s logical they post when there are some news.
