by noon the sky had become cloudy again after the rosy morning colour. later in the afternoon wind began to blow with a cold sound.

during the day there were different bird's voices near the camera, and some little birds were looking for food in the treetops behind the nest tree (too far to be identied but i heard voices of great and willow tits and nuthatches at the same time). besides these voices of also hooded crows, magpies, jays and bullfinches were heard. i think i heard the willowtit most often during the day. it was still around at 16:01. - dogs were barking far and somewhat nearer during the day, too.

the camera went to sleep at 16:15.
.. good night!

Tomorrow we will try to make better the connection here, then some brakes in transmission can happen. Hopefully we will not make it worse...

December 30th
the camera had started by 8:54 (not yet on at 8:51). the forest looked foggy and it "sounded" like thaw (some waterdrops dripping every now and then) and the wind was hard.

the wind became harder during the morning... nevertheless the camera kept on going without dropping off like on previous equally windy days (and i was able to have two cameras running on VLC simultaneously!). uploading videos made the camera stop and at about noon it wouldn't open again.

at 14:26 the camera re-opened (maybe it had been on for some time; i was busy elsewhere... ). then it went going till it was almost pitch-black in the forest. only the pillow of untouched snow in the nest bolw was shining through the darkness. at 16:27 the camera finally turned off.

it was cloudy and windy every time i peeked here. it wasn't raining but the pile of of snow on the nest seemed to grow smaller during the day 8much not much :puzzled: ). the camera turned off at 16:28. yesterday Urmas has tuned the light swicth to turn on and off at a much lower light level as earlier: it was quite dark again in the end.

Happy New Year!
Image

today it was stormy at the nest nest every time i peeked (not very often), but it didn't sound like rain. the wind was so hard that it was difficult to hear much more though. two branches near the camera somewhere were rubbing againts each other and made moaning squeaks every now and then. the snow in the nest bowl resists melting remarkably well.

i recorded some clips during the day.

the camera turned off some time between 16:15 and 16:27. here's a gif made of pictures taken between 15:34 and 16:15.

the camera turned on today at 8:33. here's a gif made of pictures taken at one minute intervals after that.
Image

there was still a small blob of ice deep in the nest bowl. the weather was calm with nearly no wind at all and i hear dripping sounds like rain.

the camera had already switched off at 16:05 when i peeked the next time.

January 3rd

the camera started at 8:32 when it was still quite dark. it was calm but raining. there was no snow left in the nest.
Imagemake gifs
at about 3 pm there were voices of whooping swans over some distance. i guess it means open water at reasonable distance. :D

i made a test: i uploaded this video in the P-bucket, too, but it seems that the picture quality there is so poor compared to what Y-tube can do plus it is soooo slow. so i think it's not worthwhile to use the bucket for videos.

at 16:30 the camera turned off for the night.

January 4th
the camera was running at 8:41. it was still dark, it was raining but there was no wind. it seemed that it was raining some sort of slush which was piling on the nest.
Image

at 8:53 there were a lot of voices of jackdaws.

later at 10:26 it was still raining but water and all the white was gone from the nest. there were some birds' voices: ravens, bullfinch. at 11 am the wind had begun to blow a little but it was ever so dark. voices of jay, willow tit, bullfinch.
at 11.16 i heard the sound of a chainsaw. :D

at about noon it was even darker than earlier... this picture was taken at 12:09. i think there had to be some slush spots on the lens.
Image
...and after that it was too busy at the feeding ground. 8-)

January 5th

the camera was working at 8:32.
http://youtu.be/wS0A30ipXBw

the wind was hard, even stormy at about 11 am.
http://youtu.be/hc7LxbMy-So

after that the wind slowed down and the sun peeked in the afternoon, so that for a while it looked really pleasant. the sea in hte background looked blueish but i think there had to be ice still.
http://youtu.be/c09mWDeNyOM

crows were talking (while they were flying to their perches i guess) at about half past 4 pm.
http://youtu.be/sjzBl22ms5I

i made a gif of the pictures i took today. they aren't evenly spaced in time but i think they give some idea of the day. tha camera turned off at 16:42.

January 6th
it was a cloudy and relatively modest wind at the nest forest today. no new snow had rained during the night.
14:21 http://youtu.be/GUP0UbpHWUI

at one time i heard a lot of nuthatch's voices. this clip started a bit late so it contains mainly willow tit's voices.

here's again a gif of today's pictures. they are again unevenly spaced in time.
Image

the camera turned of at 16:42. (i woke up too late to see the onset  )

and other little birds' voices.

if you have any kind of observations, bird's or mammals, sightings or voices, from this camera don't hesitate to post them! (not even pictures or videos are necessary, time and explanation are enough. :innocent: )

Jan 8th

by about noon it had begun to snow here, too, like in the Nõva forest at the feeding place. snow began to pile up in the nest bowl first and then all over the nest. the wind became even harder during the afternoon than in this clip, and the wind was hard already then.

Jan 9th

it began snowing at about 10 in the morning adding more snow on the nest.

at 12.59 i think i heard voices of bullfinches.

in the afternoon it became warmer and the snowing turned to raining. it was a dark day...

here's a gif of today's pictures. it seems that as a result of rain following snowing the amount of snow decreased.

Jan 10th

today i peeked only few times at the nest and the scenery was about the same each time. this picture was taken at 12:06. it was somewhat windy but not raining anything. i think that the spots are droplets frozen on the lens already yesterday.
Image

i recorded two video clips
- at 11:37 http://youtu.be/E2wZaMNadwM (some little birds' voices, siskins maybe)
- at 11:58 http://youtu.be/Qnv4ujMLyK0 (this is very short)
tha camera had turned off by 16:09 which was much earlier then usual.

i really hope that Fireblade is keeping a much keener eye at this nest than i am. :slap:

can't get this one - :bash:
but previous comments suggest that may be because it's not on - so will keep checking...
