Re: Eagles Winter Feeding Ground 2012 - 2013
Now there are 3 eagles on the ground: D414, V331 and Spotty (not ringed)
Spotty and V331
D414 and Spotty
Spotty can't found place for himself - he's running from one place to another

As always, there is an excellent description of the circumstances and camera set-up at Linda and Sulev's nest.

12:05 Another eagle arrived on the feeding ground
12:06 In the left new eagle, in the middle Spotty, in the right one of the ringed eagles (V331 or D414)
4 eagles on the ground
Spotty isn't very happy about that new eagle on the ground

Very poor connection, due to all the snow.
Even if there are eagles in trees, the visibility is too poor to be able to get useful information about them.

a shy Spotty.
this looks like a "B-bird" but without rings, meaning that it might be a 4th winter eagle.
there's also a third eagle with rings. that looks like 40.
it might be K408 from yesterday.
- but the snow is so deep!

finally the mystery bird decided to walk away from the deepest snow.
not perfect but enough to see what the missing chacters were: it is K408.

D414 is an interesting female eagle hatched 1994 in Pärnu county. She was found breeding ca 140km NE of feeder, in Lahemaa National Park 2011. Suppose Renno has a photo of that meeting with D414.
Means not all the WtEs are firmly at the nest territories, yet, but still searching for good feeding grounds before the breeding starts and good body conditions are mandatory for egg laying and incubation.
Therefore Linda is so rarely seen at nest as well.
I have to search, but somewhere should have the photo of the nest of origin of D414 in Pärnu county. Not of course digital one...

I already wondered if it is "usual" at the WETs that the male is doing much more nestwork ....Urmas wrote:... Therefore Linda is so rarely seen at nest as well.
