9.14 Linda called long and loud. maybe it is time that Sulev should come and release her from nest duty?

earlier at 8:44 a pair of great tits visited Linda. they seemed to be about as amusing to Linda as mosquitos are to us: she flapped at them to shoo them away and made a few irritated kaa-kaa's, but that didn't seem to help much (as little as waving hands repels mosquitos  )

Linda beeped softly and announced Sulev coming home .... he had a small fish in his left talon - not easy to see because of the shadow

i made a slowmotion video (1/3 speed) of the change because i thought i might help to see better what Sulev's catch was. it can't be seen much more clearly i'm afraid. i think it was a fish shorter but wider than the one yesterday. Linda grabbed it in her beak before she got up (it can be seen in between S and L as a silhoutte). the fish went down in one piece again and it seems that it was halfway down in Linda's throat when she got up. :D
slowmotion:

the normal speed video: http://youtu.be/cERfdQWLspo
here's a picture where the fish is seen best. it's in the green circle. in the blue ellipse in the background there's something blue: open water! :shake:
(altough i don't see it now... and now it is visible again at 11:15. maybe the changing sunshine makes it vanish sometimes...)

Image

the best frame from the video: Linda takes off at 10:32.

12:54 Linda came. so that's why Sulev was calling. he must have seen her coming.
Linda brought a big bunch of hay with her, but i think she carried in her talon.
Image

right after landing she began to spread the hay over the nest with her beak. the landing happens so quickly that i have to watch it in slowmotion later to capture pictures, too.

ame, thanks for the "open water" evidence. That is very encouraging.
