When Madis zn with wings wide open stood for Oxane as protection when I think is definitely the fight, I hope that here at the Piret late. But this is not good for Piret, Madis man.ze is her will to fight.

I don't think so. If the female is too weak for breeding and defending the nest do you think the male is going to live as a single? That would be against nature rules which forces him to reproduce his species.

Why do you think she is too weak to breed? I realize these are not barn owls or eagles for that matter but barn owls have been known to will themselves to die if their mate dies - the bond is that strong. And bald eagles will stay together, even if the male or the female can no longer breed or reproduce. They actually take care of each other, physically and feed each other as well.

I've just seen Madis mate with Oksana. I'd already seen them mate a couple of days ago. Knowing that ospreys mate for life, I'm wondering whether Piret still has a chance of reclaiming the nest and Madis.

To me, this lady doesn't seem to be normal, all the raptors I saw, started nestoration and mating to lay eggs soon. But this girly is always calling and calling...to me sounds more like a bad behaving youngster, like they used to do when calling for more food.

Your're right - she does absolutely nothing as far as nesting behavior is concerned. She just stands and calls, screams and yells for food and that's it. No nesting behavior at all.

I do not like this osprey and this is the only one I have ever seen that I didn't like.

Interesting picture you posted there. Is it just me or is Oxana really huge, even for a female osprey to be? Or is it just the angle of the picture? Because Oxana looks bigger here than what I remember from Piret.

Btw, to all people wondering where Piret is now: I think Piret is resting and recharging her batteries, hopefully eating the fish Madis had in his talons earlier. It is probably the need for food which made Piret leave the nest for now, not so much Oxana's attacks. And if Madis doesn't provide Oxana with fish, which is very likely as Madis' bond with Piret is much stronger, then Oxana will eventually have to leave to nest to go fishing for herself, and Piret will reclaim the nest once more. The last word between Piret en Oxana isn't spoken yet, and in the end Piret will prevail I am sure.

She really shows strength.

At fight, Oxana has been flying all time, while Piret stayed at the nest.

I guess that Oxana had the opportunity to ocuppy the nest when it was empty, and now Piret is no so strong for fighting for the place.

If Madis stays in that nest with Oxana, he will be breaking 99% of all osprey rules. This is unheard of, really! Osprey do not behave like this - they are totally devoted to their mate and Piret is his mate!

That's why I asked befor which should be Madis's behaviour in front of the fight. Apparently, he can't do anything but wait to know who is the winner.

And if it's Oxana......what?
