Are these the birds that make such a loud noise? I did not see these, but sure heard a lot of shrieking.

Yes I think those birds make that noise and maybe jay's too. Sometimes it's hard to hear other sounds because of them.loveofnature-ohio-us wrote:Are these the birds that make such a loud noise? I did not see these, but sure heard a lot of shrieking.

The Jays in Ohio, USA sure don't sound that harsh, but maybe it's because they are so close to the microphone. Which ever bird they are, they've been around a lot lately. Good picture.

Shanta and Annliz,
these two look like two young Blackbirds.

They can call very loud, but not shrieking like a Jay.

i looked up some sound samples of blackbirds. these do not much remind the beautiful flute-like songs that blackbirds sing in the spring time.
the first is warning calls by a male ("pot-pot-pot-pooo" which make me think of a worried hen ):

the second is a male's "evening call" or as it's said in Xeno-canto: "Territorial male making noise before going to roost."

I have asked a "birder" friend and he confirms, it's two young black birds!

Thanks for your inputs Bea, ame and Felis silvestris. Yes ame, the sound samples sounds familiar. They are always so loud, especially at the dusk. Amazing how their repertory of sounds can change. And yes loveofnature-ohio-us, the picture is good. :-D I agree Bea that the Jay has a more shrieking sound. :-Dame wrote:i looked up some sound samples of blackbirds. these do not much remind the beautiful flute-like songs that blackbirds sing in the spring time.
