Lispet, this is a perfect snapshot from eagles ankles! One can see the rings colors
Right ankle - ring is blue over red = Lithuania
Left ankle - ring is complete blue (?) = 2004

Thanks Bea! I would say that there are two colors in the left ankle ring as well? Something reddish/yellowish over blue?

heheheee...
my first thought immediately when i saw that left ring was clearly orange-over-blue. that would be 2007 and that would match much better with the look of that bird than 1998. Linda is much more blonde than this male here. 2007 means that he is 7 years old.
those orange-over-blue rings were difficult to read in the feeding place because both colours were so light that there was only little contrast with the white letter and numbers. this is a V-bird.
btw: the camera is still on at 18:18 and it's quite dark.
well done, Lispet!lispet wrote:A short visit at 14:05

in this lispet's picture the orange and blue can be clearly seen. the orange in this 2007-year ring is a bit on the yellow side and the blue is light-blue which is "baby-boy-blue"
it's not as deep blue as in the Lithuanian and Estonian country colours. Estonian blue is so dark that from far it may look like black.
the camera stopped... but restarts slowly... it has been choppy this morning. i have some videos of the nestorations. in parts they look like slideshows.

and here one can almost see that there is some writing on the ring.lispet wrote:Busy building at 08:58
normally pictures in quotes should be removed but here i made an exception, because i'm writing about the pictures and it's easier to see then what to look at.lispet wrote:And 10 minutes later Working and watching

for some reason i haven't been able to access Mejuba since yesterday morning so i can't post pictures of today's work at the nest. that is not actually so bad because you have a lot of pictures. i'll post videos instead.
i missed the first visits. my first clip starts at 9:10 when the male just had brought a stick and began working with it.
the female followed him soon at 9:10, and began to work with the male.
they also spent some time looking around in the forest (and listening to a crow who was calling nearby). after a while the female took off at 9:17 but the male stayed still.

the male went on with his work and every now and then he had a look in the forest.
9:19 the female brought a new stick, at least i think she did. it's a bit difficult to because the picture is so shoppy. the eagles appear suddenly on the nest and likewise disappear in a blink of an eye.
both moved sticks around the nest and at times looked around both at the nest and out of it.
- it's funny how that disoriented looking work results in a finely constructed nest in the end. eagles just seem to shuffle the stick around till they finally fall in right places. the end result looks like well-planned beforehand and nicely executed handwork. (especially the Hungarian nest looks like a masterpiece).
finally both left at 9:22: the female first, then the male.

9:25 the male brought a new stick again. he seems to be builder of the family, as we have also seen earlier: males are the main builders in eagle families.
he worked with the sticks...
... and left at 9:27 after looking at the view out of the nest.

9:28 he brought a new stick and in less than a minute he went out again.
the lady of the house returned at 9:31 behind my back so i did not see if she brought anything. the male followed her bringing a stick at 9:32. then both were busy for a while...
there seems to be a balcony branch behind the big trunk on the left, as finally the female got up there. she sat there for a while and left at 9:36. about half a minute later at 9:36 the male followed her.

9:43 the male came with a stick (i think) and at 9:45 (after about 2 and half minutes) he left.

at 10:08 both were in the nest again. the female came first and then the male. the camera was so choppy again that i could not see if they brought anything (but probably they did). then looking around and working....
... and working and looking around.
the male is so slender and the female is such a fat lady.
then the male left at 10:11. a bit later also the female left at 10:12.
