Mutikluti wrote:Good morning! As I see they both were very busy this early morning...lots of building materials is brought in the nest...from pictures I can see that they didn't forget about too. We will see little storks in this summer here. I'm happy! But what you think about name our new friend...? It's not Tiit...sad but truth. I thought about name: Tauno. Tiina and Tauno...sounds nice?
I saw a trace of white feather on the left, his head is light, the camera view is changed and both storks look different than before so I am not sure it is not Tiit, moreover he appeared almost at the same day when Tiit last year. The only proof is if "the right" Tiit appears here. So let us wait for a week and see.

We already mistook with Toomas in 2009 when decided that he had been caught and got a transmitter while it turned out that Toomas-the-Intruder and Toomas-the-Second are two different birds!

Now I wonder :puzzled:
This morning I carefully observed the legs and eyes of this guy and then I searched all over the 2013 forum to find the picture to compare:
Image
Up is Tiit in 2013 and down is the guy from the nest. His legs are more darker in this morning light than yesterday and the eyes are the same as Tiit's.
I would appreciate Urmas to write a few words, because I think I'm not the only one who wants to hear his opinion.

baska wrote:The only important question to me is the one who somebody put yesterday (unfortunately, I can't find the post anymore): Is it possible, that the featherless ring around the eye can change its size and shape from year to year??? Or is that a characteristical mark, which stays forever? Who knows that? Urmas? The veterinary we know? (I've forgotten the name), Carsten Rohde? Or somebody who runs a fostering station for storks? And somebody asked: why didn't Tiit and Tiina get rings? - It is not possible to fix rings on adult storks. As soon as a person approaches adult storks, they fly away immediately.
We have dropped a line to Urmas yesterday, but unfortunately we know he is gone for some fieldwork and won't be available immediately. So we have to be patient for a little more and be happy that Tiina (and how are we sure it is the same Tiina as always?) has a mate and it looks good for a new nesting season right now. For the dwindling BS population in Estonia each productive nest is important, even it the owners are not Tiina and Tiit, but XY and AB!

Hello.
Did anybody see when Tiina was throwing out the ghost eggs from the nest yesterday?
About 17:40 Swedish time.

The last egg was removed by Tiit. I saw him holding the egg when he didn't know where to put it and finally dropped it down.

It looks good for a successful breeding season.
