some more videos from today.

10:16 Pukite's virgin flight

10:37 Makonite came down from the left branch but proceeded to the front-right branch and out of sight. again it was impossible to see if she really flew further or stayed near the nest tree.

10:56 Makonite returned to the nest from where-ever she had been. she made some wing exercises in the nest and then she got up to the left branch.

11:25 Lubana brought a blood-stained bundle of food. Makonite began to scream and whine on her brnach and after a while she came down. Lubana left almost at the same instant. Makonite began eatingand continued whining... actually there was so much whinig that i'm not sure if Makonite made all that noise... maybe Pukite was also nearby, screaming and crying. i'm not sure.

there was an almighty crash (at 11.37 local time) - this is Makonite looking. sounded like a big branch or something
i found this sound, it was a big crash! :slap:

this reminded me of the great dilemma: if a tree falls in a forest and there is no-one to listen does it make a crash?
the above observations gives us a similar but in a way a reverse dilemma: did a tree fall down in the forest if someone heard the noise but there was no-one to see it?

12:10 Makonite got up to the front-right branch. there she waved her wings and whined for some time...

12:19 Lubana came in and began to eat poor babies' food in cold blood.
a poor baby started screaming as in death's peril somewhere near the nest but the heartless mommy went on eating with no remorse nor pity.
12:21 a poor baby jumped to the nest from the front right and kicked mommy out. it went on crying and crying.... probably the bad mommy was still somewhere near and the baby made a war dance to show her what she thought of her.
finally at 12:25 the poor baby went silent and began to look in its feet what it was she had been screaming about. nothing! only half-rotten all-dried fish! :slap: still more cries...
the the poor baby lay down in the back of the nest, quite exhausted. it's hard life!

11:30 an eaglet came into the nest, made a few hops and wingwavings and then it returned to the front-right branch.
Image

it was out of sight for about a minute and then it came back to the nest and began to eat.
Image

the picture is now so wide that it's difficult to see details on the nest, but i think this is Makonite. this eaglet moved and jumped so 'heavily' that it looked like her. Pukite is much lighter and moves more 'gracefully', more like a fairy. Makonite moves more like King Kong.

the cropping of the live picture is now the same as in Pontu still pictures which i guess is the largest possible.
this is a 'two-bladed sword': on the other hand we have a wider view around the nest and thus we can see for example more branches where eaglets can hang around, but on the other hand we see less details on the nest.
for example identification of the eaglets is more difficult (i'll be able to see the 6 on M's ring only in very favourable conditions). also the identification of the prey items will be more difficult. but on the whole i like this wider view better.
