At 17:10 the female stood up again. It looked to me that the chicklets were feeded, not sure..

It's not moss that they are eating. The parents through away food that they have already digest on the moss so they can eat it. The mother usually puts it in some different places to make them move but the father usually puts everything in the same place.

Thank you! Of course they even could not eat moss, it would be dangerous, I just gues. I saw ligh little pieces or lumps (of something) falling from above on the moss in front of the chick and on other places - and the chick also took them and ate

I made a slideshow of my fraps shots

I was waiting for some minutes ago that the third chick would hatch. The cam was zoomed close. The egg looked first out as if broken, but the dark spots were perhaps only some moss lumps. The male rolled the egg around and it was just beautiful and clean, intact. :puzzled:

A dark spot is clearly seen on the egg, but it may be some dirt. And if it is a hole, it is not known whether the third chick made it himself or his siblings pecked the egg.

What! Really..Do you mean that it was cracked about at 17:10 when you posted, or even long before that?.. I tried to see, but i could not. :puzzled: The mother has rolled the egg almost behind the corner, and thre are now the chicks too. :(

Ok, thanks, asteria. I sometimes do not remember that the Portuguese time is - 2h from our time. It was also at 15:10 when you posted.

I thought it was broken, or cracked already yesterday, but it was only shadows' and sunlight' play that
made contrasts, and this made it look cracked. And most propably the dark lines and spots were just some dirty.

Now the egg is seen only partly, one 20-30% of it is outside the view..

edit: now the egg is wholly behind the corner..

To me the egg seems to be in same condition as yesterday. Better not to speculate too much. The mother has again moved the egg's place, not much but I saw it from 16:46 - 16:51- The chicks seemed to be resting and they moved their heads.

edit here is a slideshow of the chicks, egg and parents on the nest today. The first four pics are taken 18:46-18:51 (portuguese time 16:46 et..). From the fifth picture to the next 26 pictures there is the father with the chicks, chikcs are in shadow of their father. In the next pictures there is the mother with them and the egg.

All other pics (but not the four first ) are taken between 12:41 - 15:58

Well, asteria, you are right I think.. the third egg is propably cracked, and there will be no more than two chicks.. I just wonder why do the parent's incubate it, why do they continously keep on rolling it? Do they not find that it is not 'ok'?? :puzzled:

A storkaholic just can't loose the hope. :D Let's see tomorrow. If the third chick is born tomorrow, it would be one week younger than the two others..
