Bea, at this time of the day you can see the light on Klara and she is not able to look up because it's too bright. When she turns her back or head you can see it on her, same direction of wall point.Bea wrote:08:52 Good morning. I always wonder whether this is a hole in the nestbox, or only "something" reflecting daylight

Yes, it´s clear to see now that it is a small "airing" hole. The nestbox wall around this hole has a bulge, but this is better visible in dawn or night light.
The floor level will probably rise as soon as there is input-output of owlets

White spot at the bottom of the nest box is small hole - there is thinner part of the box and due to the moisture small hole have rotten out. Last autumn we cleaned the box of old grinding and food remains. New floor is little more down and small hole is visible. This is no problem for owls.
This year one adult is sleeping during daytime in the box. Last seasons they haven´t done it. Maybe one adult is changed are there is second Klaara or Klaus. It is difficult to know :)

So maybe a new Klaara is the reason for the cute bubbling call we hear yesterday? It was very sweet to hear that call.

00:26 One of them came to the window called bubbling few times and flew away, we could hear another owl calling nearby.
Today, when she woke up from her morning sleep, she stretched, turned her head around 360 deg and called once, in another way, not like yesterday.
I never heard that sound last year.
When we first saw her yesterday, all the family said that she is different, nicer and looks like she is back from an expensive vacation in the Riviera...
