Moreover it happens every year. The fifth chick in Klaara&Klaus nest never survives.

The returned preys are few and very small this night, the chicks are hungry.

I do not think the little one is there any longer. If it is, it is not alive. :(

The kids are very hungry. Hopefully Klaus comes soon or Klaara has better luck on her next hunting trip.

I have a bad feeling, the chicks went apart for a moment, but I still could see only 3 of them. And I don't know what Klaara was feeding in the last feeding before that, there was no delivery. Anyway, bad, bad night, not much food at all. :help:

I saw the moment when they went apart as well, Maggy. Definitely not a good night in the nest. :help:

I'll have to leave for few days before Klaara leaves the nest again, so I'll see what you see then, but I don't have any hopes. Boy, how this year could be worse than the previous one???

The chicks are so big now, sometimes they eat a prey in no time after a delivery, so difficult to say.
But one of the big chicks was hungry while Klaara was absent and there are sounds of a hungry chick now, at 5:38.

5:39 Klaara is feeding. She must have brought a prey.

5:43 Klaara settles in on the kids. They are still hungry.

I was thinking about the same. And the next step in the game, they'll start jumping for food and the little one was still TOO little. :((( It is probably better this way as long as they are not gonna lose anybody else.

NO. 4 wasn't there at the beginning of last evening. I think that what we "saw", were parts of big chicks bodies.

Now, when they are able stretch their necks, it seems to form 2 different balls and it's difficult to see them as 1 chick.
So, in some moments or positions, 1 big chick might look to us as : 1 small chick (the big head area) and 1 medium chick (the wings and lower part).

This is what we saw last evening while we watched it on a big screen evening and didn't really see a whole little chick. For one minute we thought he was there but it was only a our wish...

Let's hope weather will change and they'll have more dad's visits with more food.

Maggy, have a nice time on your trip.
