For all of you who couldn´t follow the ringing live ---> two videos.

In the time between the recordings not very much else could be seen, I suppose it is not possible to climb the nest tree from the other side and so Urmas´ back was hiding view.

Interesting detail - when Urmas took the remained egg it seems as if he heard something in it, swashing fluid or clacking? For me it sounded more like fluid ...

Well, as you all agree to the suggestions for our (supposed to be) ospret-girls we name them "officially"

CA ---> Carla

and

CC ---> Cecilia

There were pictures of a nest platform (Kalakotkas or Kalakotkas2) in one thread, but I don't find them anymore. I think climbing from the far side would be very dangerous, because Urmas would have to climb from under the overhanging platform. At the trunk side he could sit on or lean against a branch or the construction instead of hanging without support some twenty meters over ground.

I do not imaging how they climb to 100% osprey-made nests, where is no artificial construction. I think it's much easier to climb to nest of buzzards, LSE or storks.

I found an article that says that Tiiu (AX) was caught at the same fish farm where Madis used to fish. So she may be has a nest in the area.
http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/node/21290

And after 3 unsuccessful breading years for Piret it was nice to read that she has kids this year. I wonder if Madis is nearby with Tiiu and Piret got a new one. Bea wrote that Pirets nest is "towards" (not at) the Latvian boarder, not how far away from this nest. Is it possible to get this information? Would be nice.

Her new nest is in a distance of about 35 km to this nest.

Yesterday it seemed as there were intruder alarms two times, at 15:34 and 15:46, when I cut the videos I saw that it was both times in correlation with a stick-delivery from Mikk.
Mai was "beating" Mikk two times off from the nest :puzzled:
I am not sure whether there was an intruder involved at all ..

Thank you, Bea, for the Videos. It looks like Mikk lost the branch in the first video and brought it again in the second. May be Mai was so excited about the intruder from before that she did not realise that is was Mikk. She was mantling. Or she did not want Mikk to bring anything to the nest. He has not done this for quiet a while. And may be he wanted to make sure that it is his nest. May be also the stranger was nearby. Whatsoever.

Fotos on top: Mikk, on bottom screenshots from your videos. They look like Mikk to me. Especially comparing the pics with the back of his head (the little spots).

Also thought a lot about these two events, maybe she was still impressed from the intruder before.

Or she was angry because sticks came in and no fish :whistling:

Since she kicked Mikk out of the nest I have the impression that the stranger from 14:18h did not attack. More that Mai attacked the stranger to protect the fish and Mikk decided to leave the scene as fast as possible. 8-)
I guess incl. the rain and wind it was to much for her.

Mikk flew in to the nest with empty talons - but Mai was already feeding the chicks with the earlier fish ...

17:21
Mikk took off, Mai several times tried to tell him: look what hard work I am doing for the offspring! :mrgreen:

I see THREE chicks flat lying on the nest - who is the third one? NO, it was the other chick's left wing :mrgreen:

A harmonic busy sunny Saturday morning. Except Mai is wants fish instead of sticks, but she brought her own too. The girls liked it what Mom and Dad brought to the nest. I adore this family.
About 08:40 to 09:00h on July 25

I did not post it in the documentation topic because it took me a while to cut film and the upload in YT was very, very slow. Meanwhile was a fish delivery and to late to edit. You all have a nice weekend too.

:wave: Owlie: yes, I have to agree. Very peaceful season.
