It was a real feast. Did you see a Chiffchaff chasing a Great Tit?

yes, i saw. or was it vice versa?
i always thought no-one is meaner than great tits, except blue tits. 8-)

laranjeiras, i found whooper swans at 8:45 but they were flying from right to left. they very almost invisible (again, like yesterday) because they were flying most of the time above tree-top-level. actually i was able to see only one but there were voices of two.
edit: my first video started too late: it didn't have the three birds which laranjeiras saw. this is long enough.

yes! you were absolutely right!
first three big birds flew to the right. the first two were flying "in duet" and they looked quite white.
Image

and after they had gone then flew the swan(s) to the left it was so white that it was a swan i think.
could all the three be swans? they looked very white. maybe two continued to the right calling and one, the third wheel turned back to the left?
:puzzled:
a close-up:

the normal view-video i posted above, with all three birds..
i also made a close-up video in slow-motion. the single bird seemed to come from the right initially and turned back to follow the two.

that was perhaps a nutcracker, too. they seem to be responsible of the most interesting voices around here recently. :D

Yes, Spotted Nutcracker. During the party earlier this morning there was a short moment he was singing very softly.

MĀRIS in dabasdati had noticed that an eagle flew over the forest and called.
http://dabasdati.lv/forums/viewtopic.ph ... ebf#p51498
it was Durberts. he called a few times and flew spiralling many circles above the meadow on the right.
a normal view video:

i made also a close-up clip of the flight because he was so far and difficult to see.
his spiralling looked like as if he were trying to catch a thermal (rising flow of warm air) but hadn't quite grasped the idea of flying in a thermal: he was flapping his wings all the time. i have understood that the idea of getting advantage of flying on a thermal is to rise without effort, just gliding on it. :whistling:

EDIT: it later turned out that this was the last observation of Durberts.

Around 11:26 I thought I saw Durberts on the nest. I was distracted for a minute and when I returned to the screen (11:28) he was gone. Was he really there or am I hallucinating......

that was not Durberts! unless he has got a new ring.
he had Latvian country ring on the right leg and all-black ring on the left leg. to me that seemed to have 0 on top row with 6 below it.
Image

good observation, Marfo, great!

edit: i found out when the stranger came. he landed on the nest tree top at 12:25.
there he sat about a minute before dropping down on the nest.

It was not Durberts, the young eagle has two rings

Well it was strange because he or she came silently (!). I thought he looked a bit different, feathers more 'tight' and the beak a bit lighter. But since we don't see D. that often I thought he might have changed.
I only saw him for a split second.

i made a crop of the Pontu picture. to me it seems that on the right country ring there's code H362 and on the left all-black ring there's K096.
maybe i shouldn't make any guesses but this was maybe a year-old eagle. 8-)
Image

i'll make more pictures of the video.
