ame wrote:17:35 there was a little bird but i can't see what it was. a Phylloscopus of some sort? a goldcrest?...
isn'ta Pallas's leaf warbler a bit far-fetched? we have seen a goldcrest here only recently but Phylloscopus proregulus breeds only in small numbers in Western Europe.Hagnat wrote: Difficult to see and he is silent. i would place my penny on the goldcrest (but of course this is not enough for identification in either way).
i have the video of the rest of the tits this evening.
it's getting dark and the thrushes finished their evening song.

They are not breeding here but passing during migration. Usually in Oktober/November I think. Of course I think it was Goldcrest.ame wrote:isn'ta Pallas's leaf warbler a bit far-fetched? we have seen a goldcrest here only recently but Phylloscopus proregulus breeds only in small numbers in Western Europe.

Sep 23
good morning!
it's getting light. thrushes are singing their wake-up song and i think i heard a pygmy owl calling rather far this time.
Google says it's Autumnal Equinox today.
edit: i checked the exact time. it will be at 11:21 EET (9:21 UTC) so we shall be on the summer side of the year for a little while still.
6:47:36 (about) the pygmy called again, this time closer.
no, 6:48:03 (was the sound so much off-set? )

i found the first call at 6:46. it was barely audible, the owl was so far. on the second time it was much closer.

a goldcrest has been amazingly lucky with the Pontu camera. i spotted this in yesterdays pictures. half of the crest can be seen in one other frame of the video just before this.
http://193.40.124.24/2015-juras-erglis/ ... -17-44.JPG
29 s later an almost full-body picture. only in three frames the bird was identifiable.
a slow-motion close-up vide (1/3 of normal speed and no sound).
the normal view video with sounds (but it didn't make any voices).

the nutcracker went upstairs and stayed there a short while before flying to the right (it flashes in the upper corner). maybe it had something in its beak but i'm not sure of it.Hagnat wrote:8:22 Nutcracker
9:46 Chiffchaff
the chiffchaff i could not find 9:40 - 9:50 unless you meant this little bird who swept across the field of view at 9:45. that was the only bird i saw (i didn't even hear many). it probably flew so quickly that it created a double image on the top.
edit: the double image of the bird troubled me and i had a closer look at the video in slow-motion. it seems that three birds flew from the back. one of them was seen in only one frame on the video and the second in one more frame before they flew out of the picture. one of them flew across the nest.

12:24 a nutcracker and a thrush calling (song thrush?). then a tree frog??
there were also some high-pitched voices of a little bird, unknown to me.

I think the thrush is an alarming woodpecker (GS?). The small bird is a Great tit, I think. The strange sound ('tree frog') has the same rhythm as the woodpecker but I think it is farther away.ame wrote:12:24 a nutcracker and a thrush calling (song thrush?). then a tree frog??

Ring was KO96 (white on black ring) - as far as I can see it ...
Ring on right leg looks like blue over black, what would mean a Latvian WtE. Can´t read more, ring is dirty.
