But what is with Villu? Something happened to the logger or the GPS turned crazy?
If we believe the map, Villu flew about 3800 km straight to the Algerian desert
I hope, he didn't take an aeroplane - involuntarily... :slap:

This long straight line makes one think something like this!
I really hope there is a better explanation for this!

Must be some kind of mistake with the birdmap software or so ..... when I look at it now there is not even an update from today and Villu is still shown near Różanystok :puzzled:

Really looks like it was some glitch in the map, today it looks normal again, I will post the details from home in the evening.

October 29

The map looks normal again, Kordian has started to move a bit more towards West, so has Villu. Maybe he also wants to say hello to human Kordian.

October 30 + 31

Both buzzards have changed the direction a bit and head now south-west.

Kordian on Oct. 30 took a day of rest near a small wood near Kamieńczyk-Pierce

Villu crossed the Biebrzański Park

Next day, Kordian resumed his journey and crossed Warsaw and is heading again a bit more towards south. Villu is on a parallel course a few kilometres north of Kordian's course.

Both buzzards continued their journey at the same direction, Kordian is heading for Łódź and Villu to Przasnysz

No big change, it looks as if Kordian is planning to fly around Łódź. Villu is south of Przasnysz.

They did not fly far, so no great chance since the last update. Maybe the places are nice and mice are easy to catch?

Buzzard Villu seems to have found a nice wood for a rest near Wierzbowo

Kordian has passed Łódź now and also headed for a wood

Villu is still staying in the larger area between Ciechanów and Przasnysz.

Image

Kordian is apparently still liking the mice found in the area where he spent the last few days.

Not much progress in migration could be caused by weather conditions (rainy, foggy, etc).
But in general Common Buzzards are slow speed migrants - stopping often, not having long daily distances. Great difference if to compare to Honey Buzzards for example.
Spring migration of Villu was much quicker as autumn one.

Urmas is right, there is not much movement, they seem to have found places where they find enough food, rest and there is no need to hurry on. I don't know how the weather is in Poland, here it is more like a late summer than autumn or even beginning winter. Maybe it is like this there too, so no need to hurry to warmer places. Spring of course means "going home", and the wish to be home is speeding up migration.

Villu has though moved a bit since the last data, moved on to a larger wooded area around Pieńpole

Image

Kordian is still moving around the same area.

In June Bavarian TV had a very interesting and moving documentation about the migration of a young honey buzzard, found in the middle of Munich. Fitted with a transmitter his movements could be followed.

If I'm not wrong, such documentaries are only for a certain time online. But maybe it is worth to keep the eyes open, sometimes one of the other "3rd programs" take such things up. If I happen see it, I will post an alert in "What is going on" viewtopic.php?f=8&t=98

Both buzzards have not moved on, are still hunting mice and resting in the same area as before.

Buzzard Kordian is still hunting mice at the place he was for the last days.

Buzzard Villu has resumed his journey and covered roughly 15 km since the last transmission

For a few days not much happened. But now it looks like both buzzards are on the move again.

Villu is still moving in the same direction
