Jānis and Māris were not on the nest.

the fog is still sooo thick.

i suppose that the forest on the opposite side may remain invisible all day... :faint:
i heard a nutcracker and now a nuthatch.

i suspected that they would not climb in the tree on this trip. it's a hard job, could be as hard as dragging the 100 kg-battery to the forest.
there has been no talk about the camera being taken away recently. he has perhaps changed his plan about the taking the camera for drying. maybe Jānis asked for the twigs so that he'll have them ready at hand when he'll need them?

14:15 Latvian young eagle K083 (??) landed on the nest and began reorganizing twigs on the nest.
Image

the Pontu picture was taken at the right time. this is almost readable. actually one can't honestly wish for a better picture. 8-)
i think it's K055 on the year ring and H321 on the country ring. it's interesting to see what Janis says about this.

this looks like 1st winter bird to me...? :puzzled:
but it can't be. they got only one ring. besides the beak is rather yellow already.
but it's not Durberta though, i checked. she has H390.

heh, on the arrival the country ring was even more clearly in sight.
it's H321 on the country ring. i think that's pretty clear.
Image

i also made a close-up clip of the arrival in slow-motion. mostly it's 1/3 of normal and partly super-slow (i clicked frame-by-frame).

it seems that the youngster had first landed on the tree top and then dropped down on the nest from there.

here's a clip of the rest of the stay.

the beak of the eagle looked like the 3rd costume or 'Kleid' which i think refers to 3rd calendar year
but the tail looked like a 1st calendar year eagle like Durberta. also the eye was quite dark like you said, Liz.
i have a feeling that the different characteristics (tail, eye colour, beak, overall plumage) develop in different pace in different individuals. their costumes are very difficult to me. :faint:

i think it was H321 on country ring and K055 on the individual ring, but we shall have to wait and see what Janis thinks it was.

Ame, it is as you say. They develop differently.
I'm curious what Jānis thinks.
