a raven flew to the top of the neighbouring spruce. it must mean that it's safe here.

i didn't see it flying away yet..?

11:30 a raven makes voices. the hunters call, too.
Max, Liz. there are hunters and "hunters". the latter kill animals for fun. they should stop.

11:32 the hunters are coming closer...

11:43 i saw one hunter on the left side of the nest. he is dressed according to the calendar, and not weather: he wears white.
a close-up clip of this hunter.

several gunshots... and squealing like a boar.
now he is walking towards the meadow to the left....
... but he turned back to the right.

11:48 i don't think they got anything yet. they are still calling.
i made a clip of the hunter walking in the forest opening. i saw only one of them but many other people called. one raven was brave enough to fly by the nest tree. it probably knew that the hunters weren't after him. besides ravens also some jackdaws called in the forest. them we don't hear often.

hmm......... :puzzled:
i'm afraid hunting is necessary after people have messed up the balance in nature by first killing wolves, bears, lynx and other big beasts. if elk, deer and boar would not be hunted at all they'd breed excessively and be all around, eating small trees and destroying thus timber, and messing up gardens and fields of grain and vegetables and such. elk and deer are also dangerous in traffic.

so i can't say that i'd ban hunting altogether. but i don't know what to do with those people who shoot birds (or other animals) for fun....

12:02 a raven flew by the nest.

here's a normal view video of the hunt while the hunters were in sight. this is practically the same as the above close-up clips.

ravens are talking nearby and i can still hear the hunters far.

and a raven made a touch-down on the top balcony branch! :rotf:

oops! it was a hooded crow. :D

I found this
*A further 12 outbreaks of African Swine Fever (ASF) have been reported in Latvia*
and they must hunt the boars.

Is there a "Forest/Nature Authority" in Latvia like in other countries?

many deer, roe deer and wild boar, are fed, so that there are enough animals for hunting. For a stag there are 10,000 €
I know it by the hunters. They gladly pay to kill.

This was a battue hunting. I think this was a battue man not a hunter. They are necessary to wear bright clothes.

Of course. We have State Forest Service (http://www.vmd.gov.lv/en/#jump) and Nature Conservation Agency (http://www.daba.gov.lv/public/eng/).
Battue of elk is allowed until 31.December and battue of Red Deer and Wild Boar until 31.January. Exception are some nature protection territories which have special laws.

I saw it looked at all directions in a different way, her leggings covered the rings, tail wasn't long and white and she checked the nest as a guest.
