8:29 eagle calls from forest.

last night some new updates made Windows much quicker again. it was awful before that, soooo slooooow, but now it seems to be back to normal.

09:14 a ringed young eaglet arrived

Such a nice sooty beak.
9:23 It decided to lay down.

Although there will probably be no chicks in this nest this year, it still provides an interesting (and valuable, I assume) look into the lives of wte-s.
And ravens, perhaps

it's again a Latvian eagle, K055 this time. i think we have seen it here earlier, too, like yesterday's K013.




yes, K055 has visited us on Dec 22. K013 was previously seen on Feb 2.

edit: i looked up their ages. K055 was ringed in 2013 and K013 in 2012, both as nestlings. so they will be 3 and 4 years old this spring.

10:41 a single raven visited.

10:42 right after the raven had left the young couple arrived.


then i have had a camera cut-off so i haven't got their departure. there has been a restart of the stream at 10:59. the stream stopped at 10:57.
as usual Pontu pictures are there. at 11:17 the eagles were still here, but after that they were gone.

i made a couple of pictures of the eagles arriving this morning.
the male landed first:


then the female:


10:42 the male jumped on the branch. -these marks are certainly not Robert's.


i think that these tail-marks belong to the young couple.

11:55 => a grey-headed wood pecker called four times.


11:59 eagles sing in forest. two voices i think.

... After the "extra small hubby" came in, around 19:07 as written, he looked around for the Giant who didn't follow him.

He flew away shortly after, but about 10-15 minutes later (19:25+), when it was much darker, we heard loud calls of 2 eagles who flew to the nest. Few minutes later they called again for long time near the nest, almost in it.
I was waiting long time to hear them coming in the nest, but all I heard was a concert of many birds singing their night song in very loud voices. ...

i found these calls at 19:27 in the dark. i didn't hear, however, anyone flying to the nest. the voices came from a longer distance. i listened to the video from 19:07 (when the eagle was still in the nest) till 19:29:10.


edit: i found one more song at 19:29. those voices weren't very near either. after that no more voices till 20:36.

11:17 they took off and flew a few loops over the meadow before flying to the right (South).

12:58 two eagles sing in forest rather far.


13:00 a very puffed-up raven visited.

Ame this was one of the calls. the other which came later , was closer and louder, it sounded as if they came really near to nest (on right D's branch).
