It was always the habit here in the topic that we post those pictures that show the more "cruel" details only as a link, so that the more sensitive and soft hearted members have the choice to look at it or not.

Please be so nice and edit your posts in that way. Thanks in advance!

Please do not watch the videos in this post when you are a very sensitive and softhearted person, they show some not so nice pictures .... you have the choice to click it or not

Sad events of today ...

Smallest owlet was already very weak at 09:03:30, it moved its head still a bit, maybe again once a little bit later, but it looks as if there was not much life in it. I didn´t see it moving any more later, it kept laying under Lotte´s belly

At 12:26 Lotte pulled the dead owlet out, checked it again, but didn´t immediately feed it to the other owlets, despite they were hungry and begging like crazy - she carried the dead owlet to the larder in the background

Later, at 17:10, Lotte fetched the dead owlet and began to feed it to the surviving siblings. The bigger one managed to get the lion´s share, smaller one still screeched after there was nothing more left to feed.

So hopefully this helps the other two owlets to survive and stand the time until the next (big!!!) prey comes in.

There was a thunderstorm around 14:00, even with hail. Lotte kept the owlets dry under her feathers, but one of them peeked out and watched the weather :)

May 14th

10:11 Lotte is sleeping. Owlets are now and then to be heard. They are hissing under Mom's belly.

I hope, there was a feeding last hours. Pixtura archive doesn't show something.

My night-recording ends ~ 2 o´clock and until then there was no delivery or feeding.

I fear that we are still not out of the case that more unhappy things could happen ....

Me too, Bea.

11:47 Owlets are hissing nearly all the time. Lotte is not responding. There seems to be no prey in the larder...

Got news from a nice owl-lover, Lotte brought a mouse at 04:39 Thank you!

I am happy about the mouse, but there was only one owlet visible that swallowed the mouse whole. No sign of the other one ...

Yes Bea, the younger one looks not good with its behaviour.
I hope, parents will bring enough food for both owlets soon!!
