Taibu just showed her ring, so she is visible to camera, just a little. Hopefully Nord is still beside her on the further left.

Edit 22:10 Nord is still there, started to call for food.

Hello everyone,

About two weeks ago I posted a question if the eagle chicks are going to recieve any help if they fall down. I have recieved a reply that they are not going to be helped and that it is the nature's way. Well, now the worst has happened and one of them fell and died. A flightless bird on ground is doomed. How can we appreciate their beauty and marvel at them ignoring that they are in such terrible and dangerous situation? After all, they can end up like Rachu any moment!

I would like to ask why nobody intervened imediately after Rachu fell, but only today? In Poland the eagles are considered endangered and are helped in every possible way, not to mention such obvious circumstances as in this example.

I agree with you as i too have seen where one has fallen and died. how can we love them and all that they stand for if there is no help given to them.they have no nest to come to,to be safe.

Is it two eaglet calls from a distant at 22:16:56 and 22:17:06? Or is it some other bird?

(I believe it was some other bird, it's so hard to listen trough this bird choir.)

Again a eagle-like voice at 22:53:46 (but it is also so far that I as a novice can't be sure)

i think that this position and behaviour of Taibu (?) is perfectly normal for a nearly grown-up eaglet in this kind of weather (or any eagle in rainy weather). when she is standing straight up then most of the raindrops just slide over her and she'll get least wet. also waving one 'fist' and its talons at a time are quite normal relaxation moves. that's what adult eagles do.

It was no rain that moment but OK if birds like to sit like... a bird it's OK
I'm not worry about her comfortable position, I wonder whether the nest situation had not forced her to grow up faster.

fat young girl eagles do lie on their stomach or on their side and stretch their legs. sometimes they wiggle their toes.
for grown-up eagles lying down is abnormal. they do it only when they incubate or cover their young chicks. as soon as the thermo-regulation of the chicks works they begin to stand next to the chicks.

But you have to admit, it was so nice view that anyone might miss it, don't you?

on the other hand an adult eagle lying flat on one side with legs extended straight would be a very sick eagle.(actually now that i think about the few pictures that i have seen of eagle carcasses: i think the remains have lied on the stomach, meaning that the eagle died more or less standing up. )

yes, Uku called, then Anna replied somewhere closer. this was repeated. then a wood pigeon coo'ed. then two eaglets called near the camera.

i also think it was some other bird than an eagle. maybe a thrush of some sort. i think there were some other thrush voices, too.
