Oh, you are lucky girls! So many events today!
I usually check archive every day, and open online window for couple minutes in the evening but tonight I ve been busy.
I hope, Bea will post a video here, I would like to see and hear them.
And due to my inability to speak German I could not understand properly what was reported by EGE. Google translate is sometimes useless soft,
Now I hear owls calls (21:57) - duet I think.

A bit late my pics...
21:06 Lotte ♥ ......................................................................................21:11
21:30 A short moment before she begins to call in a foreign language.
I haven't seen her walking, but hope, she is no longer limping.

22:30 - 22:32 Never heard this sound near the nestbowl! Nothing to be seen. Was it a chirping bird?

What a lot of action on the ledge tonight
Leo was already here earlier, on the below nest, at 20:13
His next visit was at 20:32 - 20:47, but this time on the upper nest, calling for his Lady :)

Leo´s calls were successful, he lured Lotte to the ledge at 21:03
Leo arrived at the down nest at 21:06 and left again at 21:19

Lotte stayed until 21:34, preening and watching vicinity - and at 21:33 we could hear warning calls from her, she saw someone or something she didn´t like very much!
Sorry, video and audio are not 100% sync here :(
Here is a recording of an Eagle Owl´s warning call at xeno-canto

At what time exactly did you all think to hear the owlet??? In my opinion there could have been a third owl only at the time when Lotte made her warning calls, short before she left

Thanks Bea, for your extensive work this evening for all of us Owl lovers.
I have only seen a part of Leo's visit and enjoy to watch it whole in your vid.
I guess, only Lotte has given the warning calls, we have heard.
This evening it was the first time for me, to hear these calls live. Interesting!

Thanks Bea , the third owl was clearly to be heard for me at 21.00, short after Leo left.Bea wrote:At what time exactly did you all think to hear the owlet??? In my opinion there could have been a third owl only at the time when Lotte made her warning calls, short before she left
And during this unknown sound was a second owl to be heard, listen to the video by Mamicja.
At the first moment I had doubts if this is really Leo in the nestbowl. He looked thinner than the last time.

Thank you, romy!
I am wondering whether it was Leo, who was also giving warning calls .... but sometimes there are also sound artefacts, I had this already several times in my recordings

There are two new pictures in the "Highlights" archive - they show that Leo was at the upper nest bowl on Saturday, 24. September, in the early morning - two times

Girls, I would like to know if the blood test to confirm the owlet sex has been done. Do you know anything about it?

I think I never read in the diary on their webpage that results of feather samples were published.
Sometimes Stefan Brücher makes a guess during ringing events, but I can´t remember that he did this year.
Maybe the little one was too small and too much behind in development to make a guess .... and keeping it alive at all was probably most important task at this time ....

Thanks, Bea, I agree with the most important task you have mentioned. And I am very glad that I could witness Stefan s effort to save the owlet. It was just my personal curiosity that led me to ask about sex... since I do not understand German.Bea wrote:I think I never read in the diary on their webpage that results of feather samples were published.

28. September
Leo arrived on the ledge at 03:59
At 04:17 Leo hears Lotte (voice not sooo close) and his reaction is clear ..... head low, tail high, scratching, walking to the nestbowl, vocalizing
He stayed in the nestbowl watching the surrounding until 05:04, then he walked out because he has heard someone and Lotte´s calls can be heard, faint and in a distance. But loud enough for Leo to notice it and so he hoots to her until he leaves the ledge at 05:08

Thanks for videos and comments, Bea.
I like especially the second one, which shows Leo's reaction after the duet with his "sweetheart" Lotte.
