9:41 she jumped up to the branch.

9:51 Vents jumped up to the branch and they began to sing. after the song Vents returned to the nest.

ok, now i have more clips.
10:05 Vents brought a stick (alone! :whistling: )
it was difficult to get anything for a picture. :slap:

and then he worked hard in the nest (without supervision! or maybe Shilute was in some neighbouring tree, but i don't think so.)

10:13 Shilute brought a stick and then both worked hard for a long time.

10:16 they got so hot in their labour that Vents had to pull Shilute's feathers a little. :whistling:
then he went up to the left branch and Shilute continued work.

10:21 Shilute had a lot to do with the sticks and twigs this morning. they were so difficult and complicated. at times she was trying to lift a twig from one end while she stood on the other end. naturally that didn't help her in her effort at all.

10:23 Shilute got up to the right branch

10:26 both came down to the nest and continued work. this last visit contained busy work sessions. especially Vents was a working hero today. :2thumbsup:

Shilute was mostly out of the sight but occasionally she could be heard.
10:54 she shook her feathers.

10:56 Shilute flew away and Vents after her.

i looked at the pictures in DD:
http://dabasdati.lv/forums/viewtopic.ph ... 97#p112434
the eagle in the morning was not Vents! :slap:
it had an all-black ring in the left ankle. it was Latvian so the letter in the left ring must be K. the first number is 0 and the last is 9, so it's K0?9. this is the archive picture at 8:23. in this picture only the ring can be seen. the second number is perhaps 1. :puzzled:

i'm downloading the archive video and make a clip. it will take some time.

btw: good morning!

nope, not Swedish. blue over black is Latvian. Swedish colours are all black for Baltic area, white over blue for fresh-water and all green for Swedish Lapland. the Latvian blue is so dark that the ring often looks all black in poor light.

edit: can you see the number in you original picture, Liz, the second?

Ame, When the eagle arrives the light is very bad.
When he flies away, one sees only that part of the ring. Maybe you can find better pictures?

yes! the second number is 1 ! so it's K019. it must be ringed in 2012. 2011 was the last colour-coded year. in 2012 they started to give all black individual rings.

edit: i think your pictures clearly show the letter and the second number. the first and last number can be seen clearly enough in the archive picture.
we have had K018 here earlier:
viewtopic.php?p=433911#p433911 and
viewtopic.php?p=454796#p454796
K018 was a single chick so this is not its sibling. K018 was sooo much young-looking than the eagle this morning. this looked very much like an adult although it will be only 5 this summer. perhaps it was a male? they mature quicker than girls.

edit: i'll be away most of the day.

Thank you Ame :2thumbsup:
I knew that you are unique to recognize rings correctly

EDIT: K019 was already here, right?

yes, i was also surprised of this. the uncertain K019 in Nov 2015 looks very young indeed. can the eagles really change so much in just 14 months?? :puzzled:

i didn't include the Nov 2015 observation in the list of identified eagles because it remained a bit uncertain then. today we saw clearly enough i think.

there was a little bird on the nest for a few seconds.

stripes on top of the head. here it is looking our way.

it was so in grey-scale and small that it was difficult to see. i made a slow motion (1/5 of normal speed) close-up video:

perhaps it was a tree creeper? :help:
