(March 17 continued:)
10:57:55 CapitalH in and 4 s later the stranger in. CapitalH called and in about a minute she got up to the top branch.
Image

the profile of the stranger. - the stranger had two diamond-shaped spots on its tail so i started to call him 2ofDiamonds. in some pictures these two spots merged into one diamond like on the ace of diamonds.
Image

the stranger lay down on the nest.
11:11:56 CapitalH out.
11:13:58 the stranger out.

12:19:41 a white-tailed eagle landed on the left branch.
Image

12:21:!5 it flew away. it didn't show the top of its tail but was probably RoundWing. the stranger had some black also on the underside of its tail.
Image

16:15 some eagle's calls were heard (a female's voice?) and an eagle flew by.
16:16 some male's calls were heard from the forest together with a female voice. no other eagles were seen.

the camera started late at 6:50. it was raining in the morning and it continued to rain most of the day. rainy weather usually makes eagles lazy.

14:47 eagles were heard singing in the forest.

15:24:40 RoundWing in and a second later CapitalH in.
15:30:34 RoundWing out and 3 s later CapitalH out.

19:11:13 RoundWing came in with some food which did not look like a fish. 6 s later CapitalH came in and took the food from RoundWing. RoundWing was not willing to give it but tried to get it back, without success.
19:15:22 RoundWing out. CapitalH stayed on the nest eating her food. she was still eating when the camera stopped at 19:24.

Sorry, but how is this all discussion? These are listed observations, arent´t they? Two threads for observations... why so? :puzzled:
Confusing.

then some discussion on the above summaries of daily observations and finally some conclusions.

we had high hopes of seeing a successful breeding season with Shilute and Vents till the end of January, but then Shilute went missing. we saw her on January 27 for the last time.

in the morning of January 30 Vents got new company: a Lithuanian eagle L076 joined him and was clearly interested in him. Vents was not happy to have her on the nest.
viewtopic.php?p=509218#p509218
it turned out that L076 was probably Shilute's younger sister. she was ringed 4 years later than Shilute in the same nest (2009 and 2012).

on Feb 1st Vents got a new girlfriend, a very big un-ringed female without rings. she had a very rough voice. we began to call her Lady. L076 stopped coming to the nest but we probably heard her cry in the forest for some time.

Feb 11 Vents left the nest for the last time.

Feb 12 Lady got a new un-ringed boyfriend. we began to call him Tramp.

Feb 23 Lady was seen for the last time. Tramp stayed alone.
viewtopic.php?p=512408#p512408

Feb 28 a new female Anchor (Erna) came and a little later a new male TinySpots came. Tramp tried to chase them both away and managed to do so with TinySpots. Anchor stayed and became Tramp's new girlfriend although Tramp was reluctant first.
in this clip is Anchor's (Erna's) first appearance and Tramp kicks TinySpots out.

March 3 a new male RoundWing (Raimis) arrived. he began to compete with Tramp and managed to overthrow him.
Tramp was not seen anymore. RoundWing became Anchor's (Erna's) new boyfriend.
two other strange eagles were seen on the same day: DoubleW and VeryYoung.

March 4 a new female CapitalH arrived. she managed chase Anchor (Erna) away and became RoundWing's new girlfriend.
Anchor was not seen anymore.
VeryYoung and a new strange eagle VeryLargeSpots were also seen.

March 5 a new male BigLeft arrived in the morning and tried to chase RoundWing away. the struggle was hard and it went on till afternoon. RoundWing was the winner and he stayed on the nest with CapitalH. they watched two eagles fly away at 15:37.

since March 5 RoundWing (or Raimis as he is called in DD-forum) and CapitalH have stayed together at the nest. if i have understood correct they haven't given any proper name to CapitalH yet.

the arrivals of new eagles and their struggles with the resident eagles (male vs. male and female vs. female) together with some changes in the 'inhabitants' as results of these struggles resulted in four busy days (Feb 28 and March 3, 4, and 5). random visits by other eagles added complexity in two of these days.

Janis Kuze did not write about the same nest. He wrote about the same breeding territory.
I still do not get why to create another observation thread to reach these conclusions.
Will it continue so? I would perhaps understand if you wanted to make some nice rounded conclusions for each day, but cannot see a point in listing all ins and outs with a presicion of seconds. In the discussion thread.

thank you Trine for the remark. however, the territory was probably occupied by the same pair of parents so it is possible that Shilute and L056 were sisters, maybe even full sisters. if i remember right Janis wrote also that.

i'm sorry if you find adding these posts here too confusing. i think that it would have been very confusing to add these elaborations in the middle of the daily, nearly on-line stream of observational posts.

in the busiest days events at the nest took place in such a hectic pace that we were busy simply trying to make notes of all that happened. often it was also impossible to see what actually happened without watching the videos in slow-motion or making frame-by-frame gifs. therefore it was not possible to conclude anything decisive amidst the swirl of events. reviewing the observations thoroughly takes a much longer time. therefore i think it was (and is) impossible to make any definite conclusions in the Observations thread. in my opinion they suit perfectly to this Discussions-thread. if you think these posts are too much then you may decide not to read them.

Yeah... Then any potential real discussion becomes - again - just an interruption to your calendar-style monologues. Don´t know if that is good...
But it is not worth of longer arguing. Particularly because there is hardly any discussion here these days.
