Trio Bald Eagles

Stewards of the upper Mississippi River Refuge:
Newest update on Fb page
As the happenings at the Bald Eagle nest unfold, we would like the public to know a few things: We, as Stewards volunteers, CANNOT go out and just look for Hope. Also, the nest falls under the auspices of the USFWS and they are in charge of any resources deployed to make a search.
Coming within a few hundred feet of an active Bald Eagle nest could not only result in criminal charges, but will make the adults vacate the nest, leaving the eaglets vulnerable to predators. I am certain this is taken into account when considering where, and for how long a search will take place.
We will update the situation as information comes in from the USFWS. If nothing is posted, it means we have no updates to give. We ask for patience and compassion at this time as our volunteers have a large, personal investment in the outcome. It has been a rough few days and we pledge to keep you updated as information comes in to us.

I like the way how they (I mean people from the organization) work. They are only group of amateurs and not paid bird watchers or biologists. And I have read a lot of very positive reactions on their FB. The most important thing is that both dads are cooperating and caring about the eaglets.

How is this kind of nest called? I see - cooperative breeding. And it works here.

TY, Lubaska, such nice pics and gifs from beautiful nests.
The eaglet from DCC is very self-confident and strong. :D
I hope for the other nests, that all goes well!

Edit: Kinga83, thanks for pics from Trio nest.

Trio Eagle nest

Newest update:
On Friday night (3/25) the nest was attacked by an eagle intruder. Hope was involved with the intruder and hasn’t returned to the nest. FWS staff made an extensive search on Saturday, and found nothing. Meanwhile, both males have been attending the eaglets. Sunday evening (26th), another attack occurred by two adult eagles. There will be no additional searches for the missing eagle. The eaglets are put at a greater risk due to the additional disturbance, especially since the intruders are still in the area. The males have their job cut out for them.

You are watching from the public cam and it has only one view. We have a second cam that is available to us to pan and zoom and record other activities. This gives us a better understanding of what is exactly happening at thtry and limit other activities on your computer that draws memory and CPU resources.
Dad, I think, it is Valor1 with his sleeping chicks.

Beautiful and attentive Dad. Both Dads make a really good job. :2thumbsup:

How relieving that they continue to care... and bring fish! But those news are still not good. Intruders are still present in the area

Eaglets grow very fast. Cody is very talkative chick, talking all the time. And also fighting all the time with younger Mary  Even without any association with feeding and food.
As soon as Cody sees Mary s head at the suitable distance, he makes a long neck and peck the little sibling :) Oh this eagle s siblings rivalry! But they are extremely cute!

While the first eaglet at DC Arboretum nest has hatched already, the eaglet in Decorah NN still tries to get out of the egg... Poor thing :)
