Good evening and thank you to all for today's updates.

I am immensely happy to receive news of our dear Lady with a red ring. I was so sorry to part with it, despite the fact that we all expected Irma to return. And Irma took her nest, that's right.

But the lack of information about the Lady 718 was very wounded. Now that we know that everything is in order with her, that she is somewhere near and that there is also a strong and healthy family - great! Great! Great!

Thank you, Ülo, thank you very much for taking the time and telling us about it.
You have a great profession!

Sappheira, I have seen the red color on DX breast feathers and I was worried that she has hurt herself. I thought it was blood. But it also could come from the feeding.

This is a fish! I just watched the video, Ivo brought two fishes.
One, small, Irma carried away and fed DZ. And the second one jumped up and touched her feathers on her chest, that's where the stain came from. Now upload a photo.

Cessie - the name is not Leva, but Ieva ... with an I like in India. My guess, after former Estonian president Toomas Hendrik Ilves Latvian wife Ieva Ilves - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ieva_Ilves

A big thank you also from me, Ülo!
I also would be interested, whether one or the other of Ieva's chick has Ivo as its father. Is it possible to determine this by gen test of their feathers (if you will ring them, too)?

Felis, thank you for the link and the correction!
Ieva Ilves, is a beautiful name too!!
I love that the last name means Lynx, in English, a feline favorite of mine.

Wow, I didn't know that you are so big fans of Lady 718 Ieva. Ignorant me, joining the forum only recently, sorry.

Here is she waving to you

and these are her chicks, which we ringed few days ago.

Exceptionally, we ringed them on the ground. These kids were much smaller than those of Ivo and Irma, so Ieva had started breeding much later. Therefore I suspect that Ivo is not the father, but, honestly, I don't know. Theoretically it is possible to check paternity, because I collected DNA samples of Ieva's chicks and those of Ivo and Irma and I suppose I have also sample from Ivo. In practice, however, we are not currently doing any population genetic study on ospreys and we do not have necessary genetic markers in our lab. So this question remains unanswered, at least for now.

You probably dont know Ulo how big excitement your post will cause! :loveshower:
Ieva or Lady 718 and her chicks :D

We all here have been like schizophrenic when Irma came back. We did not know if its time for a joy or for a cry, hahahaha.
So now we all are happy that both females have became mothers this season!
Thanks!
