Vēl pāris nedēļu notiks pēdējās ligzdu pārbaudes, tad vajadzētu aizbraukt ciemos pie Mares uz Rumāniju (bet vēl jāsaprot, uz kurieni un vai tas būs iespējams praktiski) un tad jau augusta sākumā varēšu ķerties pie analizējamo olu sagatavošanas.

Sezona ir starp desmit sliktākajām, taču par laimi ir drusku labāka par pērno, kas bija vissliktākā. Pavājš mierinājums, bet vismaz tāds. Detaļas par to būs tad, kad vismaz 90% apskatāmo ligzdu būs apskatītas, tātad, arī augusta sākumā.

Last weekend, another defunct from the other end of Latvia (ZA Vidzeme) arrived, which has already been returned to BIOR analyzes with the same set-ups - DDT, glyphosate and heavy metals (mercury and lead). The cause of death for this bird is unknown - it was a traumatic leg injury (broken leg, prematurely leaving the nest and twisting in the branches), why it was necessary for him to sleep, but the bird was very weak (it was missing about 20% of normal weight, which is also the most reliable fly Cause of failure). Whether the weakness is due to lack of feed or other factors, hopefully we will learn from the analysis. The results of the first bird tests were promised to me by the end of July.

Another couple of weeks will be the last nest test, then you should go to visit Mares to Romania (but still understand where and practically it will be possible) and then in the beginning of August I will be able to resort to the preparation of the eggs to be analyzed.

The season is among the ten worst, but fortunately it is slightly better than the worst year ago. Soothing comfort, but at least that. Details about this will occur when at least 90% of the nests in question are viewed, hence also at the beginning of August.
