I think, Karl is thinking: "What a relief, home alone finally! Will have a nice and quiet evening"

Was this Karl's final departure? Yes, probably it was ...
While he was standing on the nest, he has been looking around and listening carefully.
Trying to find out where the kids might be? That's the impression I had.

Let's see if the kids return...

Can be it was Karl's last stay in his nest.
Hellem wrote he pooped.. it is a sign, that he will leave for this season. The second try  I hope it for Karl.

Kids have to take care of themself.
They still breathe haevily, when they came to the nest. They still have a lot to practice

I know exactly what you mean, Summi, I feel the same. Empty nest...

Bon voyage, Karl! I hope to see you and Kati again next year.
Good luck, sweet storklets, all the best! May you live long and be happy.

Before leaving for migration Karl would do more nest work, like Tiit always did. So I think he will be back.
