Thank you for sharing this summary from season 2017, Solo and friend Katy!
It is beautiful and sad in one, tragic moments are in my memories. For me is it heavy, that the 4th chick got no chance to live, that the parents killed their own chick. But three young and strong stork have made it and start to their first migration, good and safe trip for the completely family!

I really hope our beautiful storklets are doing well.
I believe they will manage. Karl and Kati did such a great job!
I wish we could follow these kids on their long journey.

This black stork season has been just about perfect. Plenty of food. Reasonable weather. Time back at the nest after fledging. Continued feeding by the adults after fledging. All these things point towards a successful first year for our young storks.
Anne7 wrote "wish we could follow these kids on their long journey". Well, we could, if one of them had a transmitter! There must be many of us who dream of such a thing. We could do it, too, but we would have to do some fund raising first. A transmitter costs about 1000 euros, and needs to be ordered by late April.
I for one, will happily contribute to such a fund. Who will join me?
If I can get a sense of how much interest there is in doing this, I can make further arrangements about the proper collection of donations. Many may be interested in the project but not able to donate, for now. Please just register your interest here, for now. We can get to the finer details a little later.

Dear Storkaholics,
that is very good idea to continue watching of chicks after breeding season!
As you know, the possibility to survive up to breeding age is not high at all, but better conditions in the nest (enough food, no significant disturbance, possibilities to learn flying around the nest, etc) have significant role for better survival rate of chicks during their juvenile age. Good conditions we were able to see in this nest during current year and might be proofed, but there was no suitable devices to use.
Nobody is able to say if everything will be similar next year, but we can hope!

It has been such a great experience to observe this nest.
We had the opportunity to watch this lovely stork family very closely and to learn a lot. (For free!)

Hello all friends of this black stork family!

This season I have not got so much time to observe the camera as last year, but all the time I was with these five black storks in my mind. Sometimes I must even just rolled by sites in this forum through days back...
So at this point, I would like to write many thanks to all of you for thorough documentation of the life in the nest! Many of interesting and nice photos and videos of our black stork family, interesting information about storks.
And last but not least I would thank for opportunity to observe this nest and to use this forum!

To our nice black stork family - Karl, Kati and to three strong healthy storklets - Uno, Usin and Tali I wish to them happy journey to the Africa and happy return in one of the future spring! Always good wind into their wings, enough food and water and beware of all dangers during the long long way!
We observed great parents again, and I am looking forward to meet with Karl and Kati in next spring (and with Uno, Usin and Tali by reading of rings by someone who will see them somewhere).

There must be many of us who dream of such a thing.
