You're welcome :D

Markus has installed himself at the usual place north of Lefini, at an influent stream of river Congo. He will shortly start some sightseeing  - as in previous years 2016 & 2015 (magenta lines):

Crane “Ahja 5” reached Israel

...The total length of the first migration leap was nearly 1600 km which ”Ahja 5“ passed in 31 hours making an average migration speed of 52 km/h...

What happend to Tõnn? The route ends in Jezioro Trupel and the last signal comes from the river Drwęca in the town of Brodnica? Doesn't look good for this wonderful bird?

I've sent a message to Urmas . . .

Update 6.11.17 & Data 4.11.17:

Iti (Tönn's mother) is heading for her wintering quarters in the Göksu-Delta (brown line). Iti has taken a different route this year. She flew over open sea. Usually GSE's & LSE's avoid long distances over open water. In comparison years 2015 and 2016:

Hello, everybody

Nothing new concerning our Ospreys

Osprey Kalle - Congo - last data Oct. 21
(by the way : Kalle travelled 8846 km !!!!!!! )

Osprey Vadim - Sudan - last data Oct. 4

Osprey Karlis - Sudan - last data Sept. 27

Sudan seems to be a bad place for GPS. Only Sander, Greater Spotted Eagle sent data from Sudan yesterday

  :puzzled:

I dearly hope that Karlis and Vadim are fine and are not sending data because of poor GPS coverage.

In fact at least Vadim should be at Lake Turkana - from there data got sent last season. I guess we will not know for a long time now ...

Yes very interesting: http://www.looduskalender.ee/n/en/node/1780

I wonder how the DNA tests turned out on the Belarus GSEs?
Three of them and the hybrid Sander migrated to Africa while the others stay in Europe, hybrids or not?

Data 8.11.17 & Update 9.11.17:

When I looked up some other birds today, I came across Denisa, a GSE from Belarus. She is wintering in Europe, at the Greek/Turkish border at Lake Gala National Park which seems to be a nice placey. She does seem to stay there and not go farther:

There are no data from previous years.

Update 10.11.17, Data 7.11.17 :

Iti's position deviates from her usual destination - I hope she is okay:

Data 13.11.17 & Upload 14.11.17:

Iti has, for the first time since 2009 (see all the other lines terminating in Göksu-Delta) chosen a different place for wintering:

I am so relieved as I was fearing the worst (no data from her since 7.11.17). :loveshower:

Considering the flight line deviation right from the beginning of her migration, she must have known then already that she is going to head for a different location.

Data & update 7.12.17:

Solo :hi:

I guess it is time to post a pic again.

It seems as if Kalle only uses one place for fishing - in his spare time he does some sightseeing. The lines include the last two years as well (both greens for 2016 & this year are difficult to distinguish).
