Cessie, Solo!

Cessie, yes I forgive you...! :D

Solo, thank you for this great job. This link is important for me to get new informations about the northamerican ospreys.
I hope the best for Borealis, I have read, that it's a female.

Pink Shell Osprey, Lucy, laid her 1st egg, Wednesday, January 24th!
The same day, some humans climbed up to the nest and removed some dangerous fishing lines that the male osprey had brought in.
Uta Grobe, has two videos on YouTube showing the events! One video of the egg being laid and second shorter video of the people removing hazard with the egg in the nest and poor Lucy being kept away with a net on a pole!
It all went smoothly and Lucy was back with her egg immediately after!
:D

I wish that Pink Shell had audio. :(

Edited, Uta Grobe, Not Groebe - sorry!
I fixed it above. Uta, is a long time member of Looduskalender, and she is dedicated to Pink Shell Osprey cam, which is located in Fort Myers Beach, Florida.
She makes videos almost every day of the Osprey nest and posts them on YouTube. Uta, follows other Osprey nests, too.

UPDATE Bailey in Maitland, Florida

Hog Island Audubon Camp
https://www.facebook.com/HogIslandAudub ... 6433698222

Dear Friends of Osprey Bailey,
I have learned that the veterinarians and raptor rehabilitators working with Bailey have decided that she is non-releasable. Complete rehabilitation of an osprey’s flight abilities is especially difficult because of their extraordinary abilities to hover and plunge in pursuit of fish. Their extreme migrations of thousands of miles also requires uncompromised wings. Bailey has received the best veterinarian and rehabilitation care possible in two of the country’s best centers, Avian Haven in Freedom, Maine and the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Maitland, Florida. Please see the detailed note below from the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey that provides more details about Bailey and her new companion. If you will be in Florida near the center (located north of Orlando) you could visit Bailey and see some of the other raptors at the Center who will help to educate people about the beauty and importance of birds of prey. Thanks to all who have sent support to these important avian rehabilitation centers.

Best regards,
Stephen Kress
Executive Director
Seabird Restoration Program

Audubon Center for Birds of Prey

After careful consideration we’ve been forced to make a very tough decision about the future of “Bailey” osprey, patient 799-17. She’s had extensive rehabilitation time and it is clear that she will never be able to hover, migrate or survive on her own in the wild because of her injuries. Amidst this sad news we have been comforted by knowing that there is a happy outcome for her. We’re quite pleased to announce that Bailey will be staying with us at the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey and be a part of our family for the rest of her life.
At the Center she has recently been moved into her new enclosure with her new roommate, Smedley! Like Bailey, Smedley had a rough beginning, falling out of his nest and fracturing his wing in numerous places when he was just 3 weeks old. He was housed with a female osprey companion for 18 years, but she recently passed away from old age leaving Smedley alone. For more about Smedley check out this video (https://www.facebook.com/AudubonCenterf ... 739936999/).
From day one Smedley was very smitten with Bailey, running over to her as soon as she was placed in her new home. She is quickly learning to appreciate Smedley’s favorite activity, getting a shower each morning from the person cleaning their enclosure. Dinner is served nightly with an array of various Florida fish species, all of which Bailey devours. She even gets an occasional live fish caught in Lake Sybelia, the lake that her new home overlooks.
Under human care Bailey will be free from any predators and receive a lifetime of room, board and yearly medical physical care. This along with healthy food means that osprey in a captive setting tend to live a lot longer, between 20-25 years usually. Bailey has had a difficult life up until now and she is already settled into her new life. We’re excited that she’ll have a good home with us for all the years to come!
The Osprey enclosure is viewable to visitors during Center operating hours, so we invite you to come visit and help welcome Bailey to her new forever home!

Thank you very much, seira, for the update about my beloved Bailey.

So that will be her life. I had already expected that she would never be able to live a free life, after I saw that after her transport all her feathers were broken and lost.
I prefer to keep my thoughts for myself.

It could have been worse. I wish her the best for her future life, hope she will be happy.
