41.Four dead eagles in less than two months. Poland, March 2018

State Forests/Lasy Państwowe reported today that another eagle was found dead in the Narol Forest District. In the same area three other White-tailed Eagles had died from carbofuran poisoning. Two other WtE were alive, but unable to fly.

According to the article, in the county of Brandenburg 48 WtE have been killed from collisions with wind turbines (in Germany until 11 January 2018: 144 WtE. 47.Cause of young White-tailed Eagle´s “crash landing” unknown yet. Germany, March 2018

According to the article, the young bird sat dazed and unable to fly next to a dead domestic rabbit on a field on 5 March. The eagle has been released into the wild three days later. According to DOF, the male White-tailed Eagle was found in January and died quite likely in December.

According to the article, Staatsbosbeheer thinks the injuries indicate that the bird has died after a collision with a wind turbine.

54.First CT scan for a White-tailed Eagle in the Netherlands. March 2018

The male bird (three years old, 4,5 kg) was found dead with multiple bone fractures. Results of any further tests are expected not before the end of next week.
