Karl flew to the north until Dead Sea but now he has turned to E entering a large desert area. That seems quite an unexpected move. If he continues in that direction we will probably see him tomorrow in Eufrat valley in Syria or Iraq. I think he might be trying to evade cold front pushing from west with strong winds. It has reached Dead Sea valley today. Though it is cold front it is not very cold absolutely (about 20 °C), but the wind direction is not good for northbound traveller like the warm wind from south in which Karl has flown till now.

Safawi is a town located in the northern desert region of Jordan in Mafraq Governorate (on the highway connecting Amman to Baghdad. Hamza oil well, one of the few oil wells in Jordan, is near Safawi) - wiki (wiki in Arabia - interesting infos)

Do migratory birds continue their flight to the breeding areas after a long compulsory break?

You have written, that you watch storks via internet for 20 years. You should know what they are doing in such a weather?

You can not see that in the map, what they will do ! But you can read that in the newspaper and see it in the weather report how the situation is. Then you can think about what they will do.
