There have been more matings before, but it's impossible to report about all.

19:39 Kati preens Karl ...

19:40 ... and Karl preens Kati. Both do it with love and tenderness. :D
Image

19:42 Kati has a lot to do, to groom her plumage. She has many white spots on it. There is also - possibly - poop on her leg. I guess she took not much time for cleaning herself, when she was "on the road".

You're welcome, Anne, it's a pleasure.
Tomorrow, when I have to work, there is no time for watching and taking pictures. 8-)

I agree, asteria. It seems, that both feel very well.
And they enjoy that they are finally together. At least it looked that way. :D

It´s so nice and soothing to hear all these nature sounds again - birds singing, the wind, stork's wings and soft tapping of the beaks. I can almost smell the forest. :) :) :) Have a good first night in your new nest, Karl and Kati!

Has anyone compared Kati and the stork that was there before Karl? Is it possible that Kati was here before Karl?

It was not another stork. It was Kati.

It is nice to believe that the first stork was really Kati. At least these two today knew each others from the first sight. I believe, too, that the first one was Kati and we already know Karl.

I do not think so. The eye area does not match. But that can be fooled by changing lighting conditions.

Importantly, they are together and there is no fight.

To my eye it is question of millimeters of difference, and of picture perspective - I still believe 'the visitor' was and is Kati

I did not compare the head and the beak, but the shape of the legs. Karl is also a big stork, measured by what we saw before. The "other" stork had Kati's size. So it was Kati for me and not an other stork. But I'm not a specialist.

I'm just glad that Karl and Kati have found each other. There is no fight.
